BALTIMORE -- A passed ball in the 10th inning gave the Orioles the edge needed to walk off with a 4-3 win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday night.
The O's loaded the bases on Toronto's Rule 5 Draft pick Joe Biagini with Caleb Joseph's two-out double, Joey Rickard's infield single and Manny Machado's walk before Adam Jones stepped in. Biagini's pitch scooted past Josh Thole and Joseph scrambled home to seal the win.
"We grinded all day and for that to happen, it's frustrating," a visibly upset Thole said after the game as he searched for words to describe the situation.
Toronto tied the game in the top of the seventh inning on Edwin Encarnacion's double into left field off reliever Brad Brach. It was his second RBI of the night, and it took knuckleballer R.A. Dickey off the hook. Dickey went six innings and surrendered three runs on five hits and two walks in the no-decision.
Orioles starter Ubaldo Jimenez allowed two runs and five hits over five innings, with four walks, six strikeouts and Josh Donaldson's solo home run.
"Look at that [10th] inning right there. You have a two-out double, and then Joey makes contact against a really tough pitcher and speed and gets out there and beats out that throw. Then you've got Manny, who's being super selective and patient, and even Jonesy. Most guys maybe swing at that pitch, because it looks like a fastball coming in. He takes it, and sure enough, we get a clank there," Joseph said.
"This team has been doing that for a good portion of four weeks now. We believe it. We can still hit home runs. We like the attitude this team is taking. It's a very unselfish team. I don't think people now feel like they have to do it all."

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Encarnacion bails out Saunders: Toronto appeared to be on the verge of tying the game at three in the seventh when Michael Saunders was on third and Jose Bautista lifted a fly ball to center field. Jones made a highlight-reel catch and Saunders didn't properly tag because he thought it would drop. Encarnacion then came to the rescue with a two-out double to left as the Blue Jays scored the run that seemed to get away.
Macho Machado: The Orioles third baseman has hit in all 13 games this season, and he got the O's on the board on Wednesday with an RBI double in the first inning off Dickey. The red-hot Machado, who went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two walks (one intentional), is batting .407.

"Manny's gotten better, and what I've liked is he's stayed within himself for the most part and has let the game come to him instead of pushing it, because as your reputation gets more, they're going to see how many times they can get you out of the strike zone," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. Bringer of rain: Donaldson gave the Blue Jays a lift in the top of the fifth inning with a solo shot to right field. According to Statcast™, Donaldson's sixth of the year was projected to travel 377 feet and left his bat at 102 mph. The solo shot moved Donaldson into first place in the American League for home runs, but he still trails Rockies shortstop Trevor Story, who leads the Majors with eight.

Jimenez's early exit: The O's righty struggled to put guys away, despite a lot of counts that started in his favor. Jimenez, who owns the Orioles' longest start of the season at seven innings, ran up a high pitch count and was frustrated he wasn't able to last longer.

"They were moving everywhere," said Jimenez of his pitches. "It was moving a lot. I felt like I was close on some, but not close enough. They were moving too much."

Encarnacion went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs to extend his hitting streak to eight games. His 72 career RBIs against Baltimore are the second-most against any opponent, trailing only the 75 he has vs. Boston.

WHAT'S NEXT
Blue Jays: Right-hander Marco Estrada will get the call in the series finale as Toronto wraps up a grueling 17-game schedule against American League East opponents to start the season. Estrada was struck on his right calf by a line drive during his last outing vs. Boston, but he is expected to be good to go for this one.
Orioles:Chris Tillman will take the mound in the series finale against the Blue Jays. Tillman lost to the Rangers last time out, struggling once he hit the sixth inning and allowing six runs in 5 1/3 innings. He has thrown 12 1/3 innings in three starts this season.
