Orioles trade for two Minor League pitchers

SEATTLE -- The Orioles, having shifted personnel up, down and out all season, brought in a couple more bodies into the mix on Tuesday, trading for a pair of Minor League pitchers for cash considerations.

The club acquired right-hander Jason Stoffel from the Houston organization. Stoffel, 26, who was 4-2 with a 4.91 ERA in 35 appearances for Triple-A Fresno, will be assigned to Double-A Bowie.

The Birds also brought in right-hander Matt Buschmann from the Reds' system. Buschmann, 31, was 8-10 in 22 starts in the Minors this season. He'll be assigned to Triple-A Norfolk.

"With the injuries we've had and some of the callups, basically we acquired some people to get through the season, and maybe get lucky with them," manager Buck Showalter said. "Both of them are pretty good pitchers. We have to make sure we keep our depth down there."

Buschmann, selected by the Padres in the 15th round of the 2006 Draft out of Vanderbilt University, is 84-69 with a 4.09 ERA in 281 Minor League games. He is married to ESPN anchor Sara Walsh.
