BALTIMORE -- It had been awhile since Camden Yards heard Welington Castillo's "beef" chants, but they were loud and clear Saturday night. Castillo delivered a go-ahead solo home run that lifted the Orioles to a 5-2 victory over the Tigers.
The win snapped the Orioles' four-game losing streak against the Tigers, as well as Detroit's four-game winning streak. Baltimore is now three games behind the Royals, who were rained out Saturday night, for the second American League Wild Card spot.
"Welington had the big blow to put us over the hump," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said.
Jonathan Schoop put Baltimore on the board in the third on a 108.8-mph double to left-center, according to Statcast™, that drove in Adam Jones. The O's center fielder then added a solo homer in the fifth to tie the game at 2.

With just a one-run lead in the eighth, a red-hot Timothy Beckham tacked on a solo homer, before Joey Rickard knocked in another insurance run with a two-out double.
"Well we've seen him before. He's got power," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said of Beckham. "He hit a ball out in Comerica in center field against us, and we know he's got power. He's probably a little re-energized being up here in Baltimore. There's a lot of fans in the seats. That certainly helps."
The Tigers took an early 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run blast by Justin Upton -- who was fresh off a game-winning grand slam on Friday -- but could not hold the lead for Drew VerHagen, who was making his second career Major League start in place of Michael Fulmer. VerHagen allowed two runs on four hits over five innings.

"I feel pretty good about it," VerHagen said of his first Major League start since 2014. "I need to work on my slider a little bit. It's a new pitch for me. It's still something I'm trying to improve on every time out, but I think I have an idea of what I need to improve on. But overall I feel alright about it."
Orioles' starter Wade Miley exited the game after throwing 113 pitches through five innings. He allowed two runs on four hits and struck out five batters.

Britton called upon early: In the eighth inning, O's reliever Brad Brach allowed a single to Jose Cabrera, who was able to advance to second on an error by Trey Mancini in left field. With two outs and a runner on second in a one-run game, Baltimore turned to its reliable closer a little earlier than usual. Zach Britton forced Michael Mahtook -- who already had two hits on the night -- to serve a soft grounder back to the mound for the easy out at first, leading Britton to his first four-out save of the season.
"They did an outstanding job," Miley said of the Baltimore bullpen. " Obviously, as a starter you want to get a little bit deeper, but they bridged it and got to Britton. He came in and got a four-out save and did what Britton does."

Upton recorded his third consecutive game with a home run after his two-run blast in the first. The last time the Tigers slugger hit a homer in three straight was May 18-20, 2014.
Beckham's home run in the eighth not only recorded the 10,000th home run in Orioles' history, but it also gave him three in as many games for the first time in his career.

Tigers: Anibal Sanchez will get the ball for Sunday's series finale against the O's. Last time out, the veteran right-hander allowed two runs over 6 2/3 innings at Yankee Stadium to register a win. Sanchez will try to do the same at Camden Yards, where he's given up four homers over his past two visits. First pitch is slated for 1:35 p.m. ET.
Orioles: Over his last two starts, Ubaldo Jimenez has 15 strikeouts over 13 innings, allowing three runs. The veteran right-hander will look to end his four-start winless run, as he takes on the Tigers at Camden Yards at 1:35 p.m.
