BALTIMORE -- Welington Castillo delivered his first career walk-off homer, a two-run shot, as part of a two-homer night that saw the Orioles outlast the Blue Jays, 5-3, in Friday's 10-inning marathon.
The win, which marked the fourth walk-off victory this season for the O's, snapped a stretch of six consecutive one-run losses for Baltimore. The game started with a 30-minute delay, and also had a delay of 58 minutes prior to the bottom of the 10th inning.
"It is an endurance game," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "I thought about this walking around the locker room during the rain delay. It's what we do. If you want that prize at the end of the season, these are the types of things you go through. Sometimes, it works out. You grind through these things. I think these types of situations, I always think we're in good shape."
After Mark Trumbo's two-out bloop single to right, Castillo sent Blue Jays reliever Jason Grilli's 1-2 pitch out of the park via left-center field to give Baltimore its second win in eight games. It marked the first run allowed in six appearances for Grilli.
The Blue Jays, who left the bases loaded in the seventh inning, had plenty of opportunities. They stranded eight men on base, and racked up four outs on failed bunt attempts.
The Orioles were down two runs in the sixth inning when Castillo's first two-run homer of the night -- which again scored Trumbo -- tied the game at 3. Castillo sent Blue Jays starter Aaron Sanchez's first pitch into the center-field seats. Sanchez went six innings, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks in his second start back from the disabled list.

Led by Devon Travis' double, the Blue Jays tagged Orioles starter Chris Tillman with a three-run fourth inning. Justin Smoak also had an RBI single and Ryan Goins an RBI groundout, though that was all Toronto would muster off of Tillman in his six innings. The right-hander, in his third start of the season, turned in his first quality outing.

"I thought [Grilli] was throwing the ball really well," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "He got two tough ones at the beginning, and then Trumbo [dropped] one in. He was ahead of Castillo and then he didn't get it where he wanted it. But I thought he was throwing the ball great. Originally [Roberto] Osuna was coming in, but he had been [warming] up twice, and then the long rain delay, so he was done for the night."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Smoak's swinging K: With two outs and the scored tied at 3, Darren O'Day loaded the bases in the top of the seventh inning to bring up Smoak. Smoak swung at a 1-2 offering that hit him and scooted away from home plate. Smoak dashed to first and the Blue Jays were originally credited with a run when Chris Coghlan came home from third, a replay review of 28 seconds overturned the call. O'Day's offering was swung at by Smoak and then hit him, and was ruled a dead ball by way of strikeout. O'Day was credited with a swinging strikeout to end the inning.
"You can replay a hit-by-pitch, so that's what saved them," Gibbons said.
Red-hot Castillo: The O's backstop continues to crush pitching since his return from the disabled list. Castillo, who tied a career-high Friday with an eight-game hitting streak, turned in his first multi-homer effort of the year and drove in four runs. He went 3-for-5 on Friday and is 9-for-15 with two homers, four runs scored and seven RBIs over his past eight games.
"I just don't try to do too much," Castillo said. "I'm seeing the ball better. I think that way. I don't worry about my power. I know it's going to come. I just tried to make good contact."
QUOTABLE
"I've only had two starts to really gauge on what's working. I thought today was a step in the right direction. I'm just a little frustrated. I felt like if I could get through that sixth inning, we don't play until midnight. It's not 3-3. That's a little tough for me, but you move on."

Right-hander Danny Barnes walked Manny Machado in the seventh inning, which snapped a streak of 16 consecutive batters retired by Toronto's bullpen.
REPLAY REVIEW
The Orioles challenged Jonathan Schoop's double-play ball that would have ended the second inning. After a review time of 61 seconds the call was overturned, and Schoop was ruled safe at first base.
SMITH UPDATE
Showalter said Seth Smith, who was hit near his eye in Thursday's game, was available later in the game to pinch-hit.
WHAT'S NEXT
Orioles: The O's will send Kevin Gausman to the mound for Saturday's middle game. Gausman is 2-3 with a 7.19 ERA on the season, and has struggled to go deep into games. He'll try to do that against Toronto. First pitch is slated for 7:35 p.m. ET.
Blue Jays: Right-hander Mike Bolsinger (0-2, 6.10) will make his second start of the season when the series continues. The finesse pitcher is coming off a start in which he hit three batters and walked two more as he battled control problems in a lopsided loss to the Braves.
