After ER visit for groin, O's Castillo put on DL

BALTIMORE -- After spending some time in the emergency room Tuesday night for a groin injury, Orioles catcher was placed on the 10-day disabled list prior to Wednesday's game against the Yankees. Fellow catcher , whose contract was selected from Triple-A Norfolk, replaced Castillo on the O's roster.
In the top of the ninth inning on Tuesday, a pitch from deflected off the hand of Didi Gregorius in the batter's box and hit Castillo in the groin. After a short injury delay, the catcher remained in the game, but he was taken to the hospital afterward.
Castillo was diagnosed with a hematoma in his groin that the Orioles are going to closely monitor. The catcher was placed on the DL at the beginning of May due to tendinitis in his shoulder. Since his return on May 16, he was batting .320 with 11 RBIs and three home runs.
Pena, 27, has appeared in three games for the Orioles this season, posting a .571 batting average (4-for-7) with two home runs and two RBIs.
