BOSTON -- Six runs in a Chris Sale start?
The Orioles will gladly take it. Baltimore chased the Sox ace in the fifth inning and -- led by Trey Mancini -- used a three-run seventh to top Boston and avoid the sweep in Wednesday night's 10-3 win.
Mancini, who hit his 24th homer of the season in Game 1, hit a two-run single to break the 3-3 tie in the seventh. The left fielder, who tripled in the O's first run off Sale, sent Matt Barnes' 1-2 pitch into center field to score Caleb Joseph and Jonathan Villar.

"Obviously, we kind of took a beating there in Game 1," Mancini said of the 19-3 loss. "Was really proud of the way we came back and played as a team, especially the young guys. Going into environments like this is very, very good for them, and they played really well during it, too, which was very encouraging. They played the part, for sure."
Sale, whose velocity was down some, surrendered a pair of runs in the first in a no-decision. He had allowed one run or fewer in four consecutive outings against Baltimore entering the series finale.
Orioles starter Jimmy Yacabonis lasted 3 1/3 innings, not deep, but eons longer than the one out that reliever Ryan Meisinger gave them in the matinee. Yacabonis allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits and four walks.
In the fifth, Tanner Scott gave up an RBI single to Blake Swihart that tied the score at 2 before Mancini's two-run single.
"I know Yac would like to have the four walks back, but you see the stuff, and he didn't implode," manager Buck Showalter said. "Little by little, Tanner has really presented himself better here this last month. It's good to see young pitchers; they have to learn how to pitch in September and hopefully October down the road. It's part of the gig."

The Orioles added four tack-on runs in the ninth, chasing Craig Kimbrel after he allowed a run on a wild pitch and loaded the bases. Massachusetts native John Andreoli doubled in a pair of runs, and Steve Wilkerson drove in another with an RBI single.

In the top of the fourth inning, Baltimore challenged an out call at second base on a 5-4 fielder's choice forceout of Jones. After a review of one minute and 44 seconds, it was determined that second baseman Brandon Phillips was not on the base to make the force, and the call was overturned.
