Arcia among top performers in Minors Wednesday

Two top prospects squared off in Chattanooga on Wednesday, with Brewers No. 1 prospect Orlando Arcia going 3-for-6 with a homer to lead Double-A Biloxi past Twins No. 1 prospect Byron Buxton and the home Lookouts, 8-6, in 10 innings.

Arcia has been on fire over the past two days, going 6-for-9 with a home run and three RBIs. The No. 80 prospect in baseball now has an impressive season line of .343/.396/.485 with three jacks and 23 RBIs.

Meanwhile, Buxton continues to flash his elite set of skills for the Lookouts. The No. 1 overall prospect hit a long fly off the center field wall that -- thanks to his speed -- turned into an inside-the-park home run. On the night, he was 2-for-5, notching his fifth multi-hit game in the past week. Buxton now has six homers, 34 RBIs and 13 stolen bases this year.

Twins No. 14 prospect Stuart Turner also chipped in for Chattanooga on Wednesday, hitting a solo homer as part of a 2-for-4 game. He now has his highest batting average (.215) since April 23 and has recorded a hit in four of the past five games.

More standout performances from Top 100 prospects on Wednesday

• Cubs No. 2 prospect (No. 42 overall) Carl Edwards, Jr., provided two perfect relief innings for Double-A Tennessee, and has now tossed seven straight shutout innings. Cubs No. 4 prospect (No. 52 overall) Albert Almora helped out on the offensive end, providing a solo home run during a 2-for-5 night. He now has two homers and 12 RBIs on the season.

• Mariners No. 2 prospect (No. 45 overall) D.J. Peterson is heating up for Double-A Jackson. The third baseman ripped his second homer of the season Wednesday, part of a four RBI game that gave him eight RBIs in the past five contests. On the year, he's sitting at .213/.282/.305 with the pair of jacks and 22 RBIs.

• Yankees No. 2 prospect (No. 63 overall) Aaron Judge has officially snapped a cold streak. The Double-A Trenton slugger clubbed his seventh homer of the season on Wednesday, erasing an 0-for-10 streak that lasted from Friday until Monday. Over the past two days, he's 3-for-8 with a home run and three RBIs.

• Cardinals No. 1 prospect (No. 82 overall) Stephen Piscotty ran his season totals to seven homers and 22 RBIs with his second dinger in three games for Triple-A Memphis. The right fielder has hit in five of his past six games and his season line stands at .235/.337/.463.

Other notable performances from around the Minor Leagues Wednesday

• Astros No. 18 prospect Max Stassi went 1-for-3 with a solo homer for Triple-A Fresno. The dinger was his fifth of the year, and the lone RBI was his 10th. Stassi is hitting .193/.252/.367 on the year, but has two homers in his past five contests.

• Athletics No. 5 prospect Dillon Overton produced his best start of the season for Class A Advanced Stockton. The lefty gave up one hit in five innings of shutout ball, striking out six in the process. Still, he didn't get the win on Wednesday, and remains 1-1 with a slimmed down 3.38 ERA.

• Cardinals No. 10 prospect Tim Cooney spun a win for Triple-A Memphis, giving up just two hits in seven shutout innings. The 6-foot-3 southpaw has now gone at least seven innings in three of his past four starts, and currently sits at 4-2 with a 3.00 ERA.

• Cardinals No. 23 prospect Trey Nielsen coasted for Class A Advanced Palm Beach and did not allow an earned run for the third time in four starts. The right-hander gave up one hit and an unearned run in seven innings of work, striking out six in the outing. The win was his first since May 6 and he's now given up just five earned runs in his past six starts (34 total innings). Nielsen is 4-3 on the year with a 2.53 ERA.

• Dodgers No. 17 prospect Cody Bellinger knocked in four runners for Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga, going 2-for-3 with a home run on Wednesday. The first baseman has notched a hit in five straight games and has racked up two homers and six RBIs during that stretch. On the year, he has eight homers and 30 RBIs.

• Indians No. 5 prospect Tyler Naquin was perfect for Double-A Akron in the first game of their doubleheader Wednesday, going 4-for-4 with his first 2015 homer and three RBIs. He sat out Game 2 -- which ended up being suspended in the third inning due to inclement weather -- and is now hitting .318/.408/.430 with eight RBIs this year.

• Indians No. 27 prospect Nellie Rodriguez made it seven straight games with a hit for Class A Advanced Lynchburg, ripping a double and home run as part of a 3-for-4 day. The first baseman finished with three RBIs and now has six jacks and 36 runs batted in on the season.

• Mariners No. 9 prospect Tyler Marlette's batting average has dropped during the month of May, but the Class A Advanced Bakersfield catcher might be turning it around after a 2-for-5 night that included a homer and three RBIs. On the season, he's left the yard five times and knocked in 18 runs.

• Pirates No. 21 prospect Chad Kuhl picked up his first win since April 24 for Double-A Altoona. The righty gave up three hits in six shutout innings, and now possesses a 3-1 record to go along with a 2.73 ERA.

• Reds No. 7 prospect Alex Blandino went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in Class A Advanced Daytona's 7-6 win over Bradenton. The blast was his fourth of the season, and he's currently maintaining a .319/.405/.448 line.

• White Sox No. 4 prospect Spencer Adams did everything he could to pick up a 'W,' but the Class A Kannapolis pitcher fell just short. Adams gave up three hits and one run in seven innings of work, striking out four against two walks. Despite the no-decision -- the right-hander is still 1-3 -- he reduced his ERA from 4.60 to 3.96.
