LOS ANGELES -- The Brewers relied on their "Bat Boy" to snap a two-game losing streak on Saturday night.
Behind a stout performance from right-hander Zach Davies and a homer from "El Nino" Orlando Arcia, the Brewers topped the Dodgers, 3-0, as Players Weekend continued at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers have now been shut out two out of the last four games, after going 46 consecutive games without being blanked.
"I know that you look back at the last week, we've run into some good arms," manager Dave Roberts said. "Even back to Detroit, we ran into some good arms. The guys in Pittsburgh, some good arms."

Davies, wearing "Bat Boy" on his jersey as a nod to aspiring youth players who share his diminutive stature, held the Dodgers scoreless on three hits while striking out seven in seven innings.
"He pitched a heck of a game," Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. "He's been on a pretty good roll here, and that was another day where he was really in control of it. It was a big-time performance for sure."
The Brewers took the lead for good in the fifth when Arcia deposited the first pitch he saw from lefty Josh Ravin ("Cuervo") into center field, putting the Brewers up, 2-0.
"When I went up there, I was just looking for something hard up in the zone that I could do something with, and I was able to get it and put a good swing on it," Arcia said. "I thought one run would have been enough the way [Davies] was pitching."

The Brewers remain three games behind the Cubs in the National League Central and 3 1/2 games back of the Rockies in the race for the second NL Wild Card spot. The Dodgers have a 20-game lead the NL West and are on pace for 115 wins, one off the Major League record.
In a bullpen game for the Dodgers, righty Thomas Stripling, wearing "Chicken Strip" on his Players Weekend jersey, gave his team three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and fanning five on 49 pitches.
"I thought Ross was really good," Roberts said. "Something he hasn't done very often [starting]. I thought he was aggressive. The fastball had life. He was good and did everything we expected from him."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
'Bat Boy' shows poise: The Dodgers were poised to take an early lead in the second, following Yasiel Puig's double and a defensive snafu that allowed Puig, aka "Wild Horse," to move over to third with two outs. Despite the wild play, Davies stood in to get Chase Utley ("Silver Fox") on a groundout and extinguish the scoring threat.

'Walkie' time: Insurance runs are always the best runs. Neil Walker ("Walkie") provided just that in the eighth. Walker roped a double down the left-field line that got past a diving Justin Turner at third, giving Hernan Perez ("Pan Blanco") enough time to score from first and give the Brewers a 3-0 lead.
"That's a big run, for sure," Counsell said. "The add-on runs are important. Certainly that's a big run."

'WILD HORSE' FITS THE BILL
Puig lived up to his Players Weekend nickname against the Brewers on Saturday, as the "Wild Horse" thrilled the Dodger Stadium crowd with an electric trip to third base in the second inning and a wall-crashing catch to rob Domingo Santana ("Showmingo") of a home run in the sixth.

Brewers:Jimmy Nelson ("Big Sweat") starts for the Brewers in the series finale. Nelson turned in his best start of the season against the Dodgers on June 2, when he struck out 11 over eight shutout innings in a no-decision. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. CT.
Dodgers: The Dodgers close out their series with the Brewers with Yu Darvish ("Yu-san") back from the disabled list. The righty will make his second home start at 1:10 p.m. PT Sunday.
