Roberts meeting with specialist Wednesday

BALTIMORE -- Brian Roberts is headed to Dallas Wednesday to meet with Dr. Daniel Cooper, who he hopes can help him speed up the pace of his recovery from his right hamstring injury.

Roberts ruptured a tendon behind his right knee on April 4 at Tampa Bay while sliding, and he is trying to figure out why his recovery isn't moving along more quickly.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Roberts started light batting practice work and didn't like the way things felt.

"He just doesn't feel it's moving at the pace he was hoping," Showalter said Tuesday. "I think he was just a little frustrated that it hadn't come faster."

Cooper apparently helped Tampa Bay's Evan Longoria with his hamstring troubles last year. Roberts has spoken to Longoria already.

Showalter also said that they're not talking about moving Roberts to the 60-day disabled list yet, and that the Orioles are OK with the second baseman meeting with Cooper.

"He just wants to get a feel for what he thinks and see if there's something that he or we can do differently," Showalter said.
