Out call quickly confirmed after Crew challenges

CINCINNATI -- There wasn't any question that Brewers manager Ron Roenicke was going to ask for this to be reviewed.

Down by four runs in the eighth inning, with two outs and runners on and Carlos Gomez barreling down the first-base line, the Brewers had nothing to lose. They did have a possible inning-extension to gain by asking the umpiring crew to review the play where Brandon Phillips' throw appeared to arrive to Joey Votto's glove just a hair ahead of Gomez's foot touching the base.

First-base umpire Mike DiMuro's call was correct, as the replay showed on the gigantic scoreboard at Great American Ball Park. The call was confirmed in one minute and three seconds.

The Brewers have made four challenges this season, winning two and losing two, including the call Saturday.
