Gaedele's grand slam paces Lake Elsinore

Outfielder Kyle Gaedele's sixth home run of the season was a grand slam and shortstop Jose Rondon had two hits to climb back to .300 Monday night as Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore took a 7-4 win at Inland Empire.

Gaedele, 25, the Padres' sixth-round pick in 2011, capped a five-run third inning with his slam. He was 1-for-5 on the night and is hitting .241 on the season.

Rondon, 21, was 2-for-4 with two steals and two runs. He is 19-for-38 over his last 10 games, with two homers, eight RBIs, six steals and 16 runs.

Right fielder Yale Rosen (.220) was 2-for-3 with a RBI.

Right-hander Kyle Lloyd (3-3, 4.14 ERA) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in six innings. Righty Jason Jester (8.68 ERA) allowed a walk with four strikeouts in two scoreless innings. Righty Genison Reyes (5.19 ERA) allowed two runs on three hits with a strikeout in the ninth.

Padres center fielder/first baseman Wil Myers had a solo homer in five at-bats with Triple-A El Paso in the second game of his rehab assignment.

Triple-A El Paso (27-31): Las Vegas 5, Chihuahuas 4 (10 innings). OF Alex Dickerson (.316) and 3B Brett Wallace (.281) each had two doubles in four at-bats. SS Mike McCoy (.207) was 2-for-4 with a RBI. RHP James Needy allowed two runs on six hits with two strikeouts over five innings to lower his ERA to 6.99. LHP Chris Rearick (5.51 ERA) had three strikeouts in two perfect innings. The Chihuahuas held a 4-2 lead when Las Vegas scored a single run in each of the last three innings. RHP Daniel McCutchen (1-5, 4.83 ERA) walked in the winning run with one out in the 10th. He allowed the losing run on two hits and two walks with a strikeout in one-third of an inning.

Class A Fort Wayne (24-33): Wisconsin 4, TinCaps 3. SS Ruddy Giron (.387) was 1-for-3 with his sixth homer in 93 at-bats and two walks. He also committed his fifth error. LHP Jose Castillo (0-1, 4.73 ERA) allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks with a strikeout in five innings. RHP Chris Huffman (3.38 ERA) allowed one hit in three scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

Dominican Summer League Padres (6-1): Blue Jays 8, Padres 1. RHP Joel Linares (1-1, 3.00 ERA) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in four innings. RHP Pedro Beltran (1.80 ERA) allowed a run on two hits and two walks with a strikeout in two innings. RHP Jaffe Garcia (0.00 ERA) allowed an unearned run on a hit with four strikeouts in two innings. 2B Elys Ugueto (.250) was 1-for-2 with a walk, two steals and a run. 3B Manuel Vizcaino (.185) had a double and a RBI.
