El Paso, Fort Wayne extend win streaks

Right-hander Rodriquez leads shutout for San Antonio

Triple-A El Paso and Class A Fort Wayne continued on their winning ways in the Padres' farm system on Sunday, while right-hander Bryan Rodriguez and three relievers combined on a four-hit shutout for Double-A San Antonio.

El Paso scored a 4-3 win for the Chihuahuas' fourth straight win, moving them to within 1 1/2 games of Las Vegas in the Pacific Coast League's Pacific Southern Division.

Fort Wayne scored a 7-6, 10-inning win over Cedar Rapids to run its winning streak to eight straight games. The Midwest League's second-half Eastern Division leaders have also won 13 straight games at home and the TinCaps are 15-2 over their last 17 games.

Rodriguez (6-11, 4.04 ERA) allowed four hits and a walk with three strikeouts over six innings in the Missions' 1-0 win at Arkansas.

Right-handed reliever Genison Reyes (0.00 ERA) walked two with a strikeout in a hitless inning. Left-hander Brandon Alger (4.00) pitched a perfect eighth. Left-hander Eury De La Rosa (1.72) allowed a walk with a strikeout in a hitless ninth to complete the shutout and get his fifth save.

The Missions scored the game's only run in the third, when first baseman Luis Domoromo (.263, 1-for-4) singled home catcher Adolfo Reina (.188, 1-for-3).

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (64-57): Chihuahuas 4, NASHVILLE 3. Starting LHP Robbie Erlin (6.5, 5.85 ERA) allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. RHP Nick Vincent (3.40) struck out the only two hitters he faced to close out the seventh. RHP Jay Jackson (2.09) allowed two hits with three strikeouts over 1 2/3 scoreless innings to get his 12th save. DH Alex Dickerson (.307) was 1-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run for two RBIs. 3B Will Middlebrooks (.291) was 2-for-5 with a RBI. The winning run scored on a sixth-inning sacrifice fly by second baseman Hector Gomez (1-for-4, .350).

CLASS A ADVANCED LAKE ELSINORE (43-76): RANCHO CUCAMONGA 9, Storm 1. 1B Marcus Davis (.252) was 2-for-4. Starting LHP Travis Radke (0-2, 10.50 ERA) allowed seven runs on seven hits and a walk with three strikeouts in four innings.

CLASS A FORT WAYNE (64-53): TIN CAPS 7, Cedar Rapids 6 (10 innings). Pinch-hitter Franmil Reyes (.242) had a one-out, walk-off single in the 10th after the TinCaps tied the game with five runs in the bottom of the ninth. 1B Trae Santos (.254) was 1-for-5 with a two-run homer (his 11th in the ninth) and DE Edwin Moreno (.299, 1-for-4) followed with his third homer. 2B Josh Van Meter (.292) was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Starting LHP Thomas Dorminy (3.26 ERA) allowed three runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks with two strikeouts over six innings. RHP Yimmi Brasoban (5-3, 2.37) walked one in one inning and notched the win.

SHORT-SEASON CLASS A TRI-CITY (31-25): Boise 6, DUST DEVILS 4. 1B Ty France (.310, San Diego State) was 2-for-4 with a run scored. C A.J. Kennedy (.281) had a double in three at-bats for two RBIs. Starting LHP Griffin Russell (4.01 ERA) allowed two hits and a walk with five strikeouts in three scoreless innings.

ARIZONA ROOKIE PADRES (19-25): The Padres were off Sunday.
