DENVER -- Andy Green is officially in the win column.
Hired in October as the 19th manager in Padres franchise history, Green etched his name in the club's record books in style, as the San Diego offense broke out for a 13-6 victory over the Rockies on Friday afternoon.
The 13 runs scored tied a franchise record for a Padres skipper during his first win. Bruce Bochy's Friars also plated 13 in April 1995.

Obviously, Green would have liked for win No. 1 to come sooner, after the Padres were swept in record fashion by the Dodgers earlier in the week. But now that he has the first one under his belt, Green can take that deep breath he's been craving, and get to work on accumulating a few more.
"The first hit of the season, for players, once they finally get those, they can relax," Green said. "The hitting coach relaxes after the first run, and the manager, I guess, after the first win. We checked those boxes today, so it's good to get it going in that direction."

Green spent 11 seasons playing professional baseball, including parts of four years in the Major Leagues with the D-backs and Mets. Following his playing career, he managed for three seasons in the D-backs Minor League system before coaching third base for Arizona last season.
From Friday's game, Green says he'll hang onto the lineup card to commemorate the occasion, but he won't be taking any other souvenirs with him. As for snapping the three-game skid, Green looked at it as a character-building exercise.
"It'll be a good learning experience for us," Green said. "We're going to have a lot of stressful times in the next 158 games."
