SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres today have announced their 25-man roster. Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller made the announcement.
The club has selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Matt Thornton and optioned left-handed pitcher Robbie Erlin, outfielder Jose Pirela, infielder Alexi Amarista and catcher Austin Hedges to Triple-A El Paso. In addition, the club has placed right-handed pitcher Jon Edwards on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 25, with a right flexor strain and left-handed pitcher Buddy Baumann on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 25, with a low back strain.
With today's announcements the Padres currently have 39 players on their 40-man roster and a full 25-man active roster.
