PHOENIX -- Andrew Cashner pitched two scoreless innings, Derek Norris had two hits and two RBIs, and Jabari Blash homered in the Padres' 8-2 win over the previously unbeaten Brewers at Maryvale Baseball Park on Monday.
The Brewers fell to 4-1-1 in Cactus League play after starter Taylor Jungmann and relievers Chris Capuano, Blaine Boyer and Tyler Thornburg combined to surrender six runs in the span of five innings from the second through the sixth. Blash, a Rule 5 Draft pick who entered the day 0-for-6, started the scoring with a second-inning solo home run against Jungmann.
Norris hit an RBI double in the fourth inning and an RBI single in the sixth for the Padres, who improved to 2-5.

Cashner, coming off a 16-loss season and entering a contract year as the Padres' projected No. 3 starter, worked around three hits and a walk during his two-inning spring debut.

"The biggest thing is getting my fastball down. I thought I did a better job. I think I can still do a better job, but my breaking ball was really, really good today," said Cashner, who threw all of his pitches on Monday. "I think that's one of the better breaking balls I've featured in a couple years."
Jungmann took the loss after allowing one run on two hits and two walks.
"Obviously, it could have been better," Jungmann said. "But I have been focusing a little bit more on a changeup so far this spring, and I got quite a few changeups in. I thought I threw some good ones. That's progress."
Brewers infielder Yadiel Rivera, who had hit go-ahead, ninth-inning home runs in each of the team's previous two games, accounted for Milwaukee's only run through the first seven innings Monday with a run-scoring forceout in the fifth.

Up next for Padres:Brandon Maurer makes his first start of the spring at 12:10 p.m. PT on Tuesday, when the Padres host the D-backs at the Peoria Sports Complex. Maurer excelled in relief last season, but the team made the decision to move him into the rotation. He'll likely be the No. 4 or 5 starter in the rotation. Look for Maurer to work two innings.
