When Alex Dickerson homered for the third straight game Tuesday night, it extended San Diego's home run streak to 24 straight games.
That is one of only six streaks in Major League history of 24 games or longer since the statistic started being tracked in 1913. It is also the longest streak in the Major Leagues since the 2002 Texas Rangers set the record by homering in 27 straight games.
The 24-game streak is tied for the second-longest in National League history. The 1998 Atlanta Braves homered in 25 straight games. The 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers also had a 24-game homer streak.
San Diego's old record for consecutive games with a home run was 14 set in 1998.
The Padres have hit a total of 39 homers during their record streak dating back to June 28.
Second baseman Ryan Schimpf is the individual leader during the streak with nine. Right fielder Matt Kemp, who gave the Padres a 6-4 lead Tuesday night with a two-run homer in the 12th inning, is second during the streak with seven homers. Third baseman Yangervis Solarte is third with six homers.

Melvin Upton Jr. hit five homers during the streak, before he was traded to Toronto on Tuesday. Dickerson has four homers, first baseman Wil Myers has three and catcher Derek Norris has two. Adam Rosales, Christian Bethancourt and Brett Wallace each has one home run during the run.
The Padres have 120 homers on the season, a franchise-record for 101 games. Seventy of those homers have come since June 1, which is the most in the NL since that date, and is tied for the fourth-highest total in the Major Leagues.
Notes from the scorebook
• Dickerson is 8-for-14 over his last three games with two doubles, three homers, six RBIs and five runs scored. He also stole his second base of the season Tuesday night. The three-game binge raised Dickerson's batting average 61 points to .288.
• Kemp was 2-for-6 with his two-run homer and two runs scored Tuesday, extending his hitting streak to 11 straight games. He is 15-47 during the streak with three doubles, seven homers, 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

• Myers was 2-for-6 with his 20th double Tuesday. But he is only 7-for-42 (.167) since the All-Star Game with one homer, one double, three RBIs and five runs scored. His batting average has dropped from .286 at the All-Star break to .273.
• Norris is in a 2-for-28 drought with 13 strikeouts. His batting average has dropped back under the Mendoza Line to .199.
• Right-hander Brandon Maurer has four saves in as many attempts and a 0.87 ERA since becoming San Diego's closer on July 1. He has allowed one run on five hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings.
• Right-handed reliever Carlos Villanueva has been scored upon in eight of his last nine relief appearances, giving up 19 runs on 23 hits and five walks with nine strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings, for a 16.02 ERA.
