Padres manager Andy Green is on record asking fans of the game - particularly those in San Diego -- to vote for Padres first baseman Wil Myers for the National League All-Star team.
Myers is doing his best to support his boss's backing. Myers was 3-for-5 in Cincinnati Friday night with his 17th double and 17th homer for five RBIs. He also scored two runs.
The homer was Myers' 10th this month. That is the most in the National League and equals the Padres' record for home runs in the month of June set by left fielder Greg Vaughn in the 1998 season.
Myers leads all Major League players in June in homers, RBIs (28), extra-base hits (19) and slugging percentage (.802).
Of course, he's not alone in having a great June.
Right fielder Matt Kemp is hitting .360 (32-for-89) in June and leads the Major Leagues with 32 hits for the month. He is 9-for-23 in a five-game hitting streak with two doubles, a homer, six RBIs and three runs scored.
Overall, the Padres are hitting .286 for the month while scoring 119 runs and going 12-10. The Padres lead the National League in hitting for the month and also lead in runs scored and runs per game (5.41). The last time the Padres led the National League in runs per game for a month was May of 2005.
NOTES FROM THE SCOREBOOK

• Left fielder Melvin Upton Jr. was 3-for-5 with a pair of two-run homers Friday night. It was the eighth multi-homer game of his career and his first this season. Upton has multi-hit games in four of his last five starts. Over the last five games, Upton is 9-for-22. Upton has hit safely in eight of his last nine games, going 16-for-37 (.432) during the run with two doubles, three homers, three steals, eight RBIs and 10 runs scored.
• The Padres Friday night scored their league-leading, 11th come-from-behind win Friday night. The Padres also scored at least one run in each of the first eight innings. Had they scored in the ninth, the Padres would have become the fourth National League team since 1900 to score in all nine innings.
• Third baseman Yangervis Solarte has hit safely in five of his last six games while playing with a thumb contusion. He is 8-for-21 with a double, two walks, four RBIs and five runs scored.He has also committed an error in each of the last games to give him seven on the season.
• Right-handed starter Colin Rea, 25, has given up six runs in 11 1/3 innings in his last two starts. But only two of those runs were earned. However, Rea is 1-1 with a 5.47 earned run average in five starts since returning from his 10-day option to Triple-A El Paso in an effort to reduce his work load.
