Padres host Phillies, Giants and Rockies for final homestand

Homestand highlighted by Fall Beerfest and Belly Up at the Ballpark postgame concert by O.A.R.

SAN DIEGO - The Padres return home tonight for the final homestand of the 2014 season, beginning with a four-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies, followed by a weekend series against the San Francisco Giants and three games against the Colorado Rockies. The homestand is highlighted by Fall Beerfest presented by Alaska Airlines and Belly Up at the Ballpark presented by San Diego Toyota Dealers, a postgame concert featuring O.A.R. and DJ Chris Cote.

Home action begins tonight with a 7:10 p.m. start against the Phillies. Tonight's Ceremonial First Pitch will be thrown by former Yankees outfielder Irv Noren, a friend and teammate of the late Jerry Coleman. Coleman would have celebrated his 90th birthday on Sunday, September 14. Marine Band San Diego will perform the National Anthem in celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the Star Spangled Banner and the Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 267 will present the colors in honor of Coleman's service to our country.

Tuesday marks ¡Fiesta Padres! presented by Verizon Wireless, celebrating Mexican Independence Day and Hispanic Heritage Month. ¡Fiesta Padres! kicks off at 4:30 p.m. at Park at the Park, headlined by appearances by 10 Lucha Libre wrestlers. The wrestlers will sign autographs and take photos with fans beginning at 4:30 p.m. They will hold three exhibition matches beginning at 5:45 p.m.

Folklórico dancers and Mariachis will add to the celebratory atmosphere in Park at the Park, as will concessions specials including $5 beers, $5 El Agave margaritas and $1 pollo asado street tacos, part of Taco Tuesday presented by Cholula Hot Sauce. In celebration of ¡Fiesta Padres! presented by Verizon Wireless, Tuesday's pregame ceremony will collectively honor all of this year's recipients of the Padres Hispanic Heritage Comunidad Award.

Also as part of the ¡Fiesta Padres! festivities, the Ceremonial First Pitch will be thrown by Mexican Consul Remedios Gomez Arnau. Eduardo Ortega, the Spanish-language voice of the Padres, will announce the night's lineups in Spanish. During the game, a designated section in Right Field will feature a drum line, noisemakers and Mariachis. Tuesday's First Responders Recognition will honor Los Bomberos de San Diego, a volunteer association of firefighters and EMS personnel. Los Bomberos provide training for firefighters in Mexico for border region emergencies and raise money for academic scholarships for San Diego Hispanic youth. Prior to Wednesday's game, San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore will throw the Ceremonial First Pitch to promote awareness of domestic violence in our community. Joining forces with the YWCA of San Diego County, Sheriff Gore is an advocate for the cause and their transformative programs for women, children, and families. Step up, speak out, and help end domestic violence at the YWCA's Walk a Mile in Her Shoes on Thursday, October 9.

Also before Wednesday's game, the Padres will recognize this homestand's featured charity partner, Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County. In partnership with The Padres Foundation, Bumble Bee Seafoods will present Big Brothers Big Sisters with a $5,000 donation.

In addition during the pregame ceremony, the Padres will recognize the club nominee for the 2014 Roberto Clemente Award presented by Chevrolet. The award pays tribute to Clemente's achievements and character by recognizing current players who truly understand the value of helping others. It is named for the 12-time MLB All-Star and Hall of Famer who died in a plane crash on New Year's Eve 1972 while attempting to deliver supplies to earthquake victims in Nicaragua. 

Thursday is the final College Night event of the season presented by Mission Federal Credit Union, featuring special ticket discounts for college students with a valid student ID ($10 in Right Field Upper Reserved College Night section). A DJ from Channel 93.3 will be spinning at the Budweiser Patio in Right Field from 5:00 p.m. until the conclusion of the game.

The Padres welcome the Giants to town Friday for a weekend series. Friday's game will be preceded by the Padres' Fall Beerfest presented by Alaska Airlines. The final of three tasting events this season will feature offerings from nearly 20 breweries. Regular-sized beers priced at $5 will be available for purchase with Friar Funds exclusively. Fans will have the opportunity to buy Friar Funds at multiple locations. First pour is at 5:00 p.m. More information, including a list of breweries, can be found at www.padres.com/beerfest.

Friday also marks Native American Night presented by Syucan, celebrating Native American culture.

Beginning Friday and continuing through September 23, fans will be able to purchase $1 Shirts off their Backs scratcher tickets for the chance to win the opportunity to take part in the 15th annual Shirts off their Backs ceremony presented by Sycuan. Tickets will be available at the Gaslamp Gate, on the main concourse near sections 103 and 123, in the Western Metal Supply Co. Building and from Guest Service Representatives throughout the ballpark. Following the second-to-last home game of the season on Sept. 23, approximately 44 winners will receive a game-worn jersey off the back of a Padres player or coach. All proceeds from the scratcher ticket sales will benefit the Padres Foundation. Over the past 14 years, this program has raised more than $568,000 in support of the Padres Foundation's community outreach efforts.

On Saturday, Padres 2014 first round draft pick Trea Turner will throw the Ceremonial First Pitch.

Following Saturday's game, fans will be treated to a postgame concert by Maryland-born rock band O.A.R. Belly Up at the Ballpark presented by San Diego Toyota Dealers will bring the popular band, along with DJ Chris Cote, to Petco Park. Admission is free with a ticket to that day's 5:40 p.m. game against the San Francisco Giants. The postgame show is the result of a partnership between the Padres and the world-renowned North County music venue The Belly Up. The concert will begin approximately 30 minutes postgame.

Sunday's series finale against the Giants marks Military Family Salute presented by USAA. The Salute is meant to thank military families, including spouses and children, for their service and sacrifices. As part of the pregame ceremony, more than a two dozen families representing the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Coast Guard will be recognized. Sunday's Ceremonial First Pitch will be thrown by MSgt Jamie P. Myers, an Infantry Unit Leader from 1st Battalion 1st Marines, who recently returned from a seven-month deployment to Afghanistan. The U.S. Navy Parachute Team, also known as the Leap Frogs, will conduct a parachute demonstration and land in the outfield during the pregame ceremony.

Prior to all Sunday home games, from 11:30 a.m. to noon, two Padres players will sign autographs at the Park at the Park for Jr. Padres Sunday Signings. A Jr. Padres membership is required to participate in the signing event. Membership is free, and kids can sign up online or in-person on the day of the event.

KidsFest at the Park returns Sunday, featuring bounce houses and other inflatables, games, face painters, balloon artists, and more kid-friendly activities.

Following Sunday's game, Jr. Padres are invited to run the bases on the field at Petco Park. Kids can line up at the Beachers in the Park at the Park at the conclusion of the game.

The Padres welcome the Rockies to town on Monday. Fans who come to games during the Rockies series may be greeted by a familiar face. Several Padres players will be surprising fans at gates and other locations around the ballpark. 

In partnership with COX, the club will highlight the service and sacrifice of San Diego first responders on Tuesday. The final First Responders Salute this season will recognize representatives from all local first responder agencies. In addition, COX and the Padres Foundation with present one local nonprofit with a $10,000 donation. Tuesday marks the final Taco Tuesday presented by Cholula Hot Sauce of the season, featuring $1 pollo asado street tacos sold at six locations throughout the ballpark. An additional location features gluten-free $1 street tacos.

Following Tuesday's game, fans are invited to stay for the annual Shirts off their Backs fundraiser ceremony, presented by Sycuan. Throughout the homestand, fans will be able to buy $1 Shirts off their Backs scratcher tickets for the chance to win the opportunity to take part in Tuesday's ceremony. Following the game, approximately 44 winners will receive a game-worn jersey off the back of one Padres player or coach. All proceeds from the scratcher ticket sales will go to the Padres Foundation. Please note: the Shirts off their Backs ceremony will NOT happen after the final home game of the season this year, due to Padres team travel timing.

The 2014 home season wraps up Wednesday. All fans in attendance will receive a Padres team photo presented by The Mighty 1090.
