Padres' Blash crushes third HR in three days

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- 's third homer in as many days capped a late rally, as the Padres stormed back with nine unanswered runs to beat the D-backs, 9-6, on Thursday.
Blash and each went 2-for-2 for the Padres, who scored four runs apiece in the seventh and eighth innings. The comeback negated Arizona's five-run second, highlighted by a two-run no-doubter off the bat of . D-backs starter bounced back nicely from a rough debut, tossing three scoreless frames, while striking out four. The 24-year-old right-hander allowed hits to the first two batters he faced. But he escaped the first-inning jam and wouldn't allow another runner to reach base.
"He threw the ball very, very well," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said of Bradley. "He was aggressive with several pitches. He threw some key pitches in key moments to get back into counts. It was exactly what I know he had hoped for, and was exciting to watch from the side."
For the Friars, went 2-for-3, while drove in a run and took one away as well. He singled home Jankowski in the sixth, an inning after cutting down at the plate with a perfect strike from right field.

In his Cactus League debut, left-hander worked a clean first inning, before coming unraveled in the five-run second. Specifically, he struggled regaining command of his changeup, the pitch he threw to Hernandez.
"It's kind of dipping your toe in the pool a little bit, just getting ready for the speed," said Friedrich, who signed with the Padres a year ago tomorrow. "... As the game speeds up, you've got to slow it down, and it was evident today that it kind of sped up on me, and I let the previous pitch affect the next one."
