Padres minor league OF Donavan Tate reports to extended spring training

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres have announced that minor league outfielder Donavan Tate has reported to the club's temporary extended spring training complex in Surprise, Ariz. The 22-year-old Tate did not report to Padres spring training this spring in order to focus on a personal issue.

"The Padres organization supported Donavan's desire earlier this year to step away from baseball and handle some personal issues in his life," said Randy Smith, Padres VP of Player Development and International Scouting. "He reported to extended spring training today where we will resume the development process."

"I left baseball in order to gain a grasp on some personal issues in my life that I've been dealing with for quite some time," said Tate. "I feel I've put those problems behind me, have surrounded myself with positive people in my life and that I'm ready to focus on baseball to accomplish the things I'm capable of. I am very thankful to the Padres organization for being supportive throughout this difficult process."
