Prospect Quackenbush moved to Triple-A

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Padres promoted one of their top relievers from Double-A San Antonio to Triple-A Tucson on Monday.

Right-hander Kevin Quackenbush, ranked by MLB.com as the Padres' No. 18 prospect, makes the jump to the Pacific Coast League after going 2-0 with a 0.29 ERA in 29 games for the Missions.

Quackenbush, 24, had 46 strikeouts in 31 innings with 13 saves. He allowed 16 hits and 10 walks and he yielded just one earned run in his time in the Texas League.

Quackenbush, who was picked in the eighth round of the 2011 Draft, has a 0.69 ERA in 116 games as a professional with 187 strikeouts in 130 2/3 innings.

Quackenbush throws a fastball in the low 90s with a lot of deception. He has a career rate of 12.9 strikeouts per nine innings and 5.7 hits per nine innings.
