Kyle Lloyd's first career complete game turned out to be his first no-hitter.
Lloyd, a Padres' farmhand, threw a no-hitter Saturday night, leading Double-A San Antonio to a 2-0 win over Frisco. The no-hitter was the Missions' first since a trio of pitchers combined to throw one on July 30, 2014.

"I obviously knew what was going on," Llyod told MiLB.com of his mindset entering the ninth."I was just trying to tell myself to keep pounding the zone, try to work ahead and just keep making the pitches."
The former 29th-round Draft pick (2013) needed just 94 pitches to carve his way through a Frisco lineup that featured three of the Rangers' Top 30 prospects.

Lloyd threw 108 pitches in his last outing, but he was very economical with his pitches on Saturday. The 26-year-old right-hander walked one and struck out just three, ultimately throwing 68 of his 94 pitches for strikes and utilizing his defense for the bulk of the outs.
Lloyd retired the side in order to begin the game, but then walked RoughRiders' first baseman Eric Aguilera to begin the second inning. However, from that point forward, Lloyd was perfect.
The right-hander retired the final 24 batters he faced, never allowed a runner to reach second base and recorded 18 of the 27 outs via groundballs.
"I didn't throw one four-seam fastball, I just threw all sinkers today," Lloyd said. "My splitter was working, too, later in the count. Sometimes I wouldn't get the swing and miss I wanted, but I would get a little contact on the ground and the defense was there to pick me up."
Lloyd, now 4-3 with a 3.20 ERA, appears to have settled into a nice rhythm, having allowed one earned run or fewer in each of his past three starts.
