Rea among rising stars at Futures Game
Padres' 15th-ranked prospect to play for U.S. team July 12 in Cincinnati
SAN FRANCISCO -- Right-handed pitcher Colin Rea, the Padres' 15th-best prospect according to MLB.com, has been selected to play in the SiriusXM Futures Game next month in Cincinnati.

Rea will play for the U.S. Team in the Futures Game at Great American Ball Park on July 12 as part of All-Star Weekend.
Rea currently has a 1.06 ERA in 11 starts for Double-A San Antonio and hasn't allowed a run in his last three starts (16 innings) since coming off the disabled list. Rea missed a little over three weeks in May and early June with lower back spasms.
Rea, who turns 25 on Wednesday, was a 12th-round Draft pick in 2011 out of Indiana State. He spent that first summer with Short Season Eugene of the Northwest League playing for Padres interim manager Pat Murphy.
"He's a great human being," Murphy said of Rea. "I saw him in Spring Training [this year] and, boy, has he come on. He's an exciting prospect."
Rea's former teammate, shortstop Trea Turner, is also on the US team. Turner hit .322 in San Antonio this season before moving to the Nationals' organization as per the agreement with Washington, as Turner was a player to be named later in a winter trade.
Turner is currently hitting .359 in his first 10 games for Double-A Harrisburg.
The U.S. Team, which has won each of the last five contests, leads the all-time series, 10-6.
The 17th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game takes place at 12 p.m. PT on July 12, and it can be seen live on MLB Network and MLB.com, with Matt Vasgersian, Dan Plesac, Heidi Watney and Jonathan Mayo on the call.
