NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. -- The Padres' contingent has arrived at baseball's annual Hot Stove extravaganza.
The Winter Meetings are set to get underway from just outside Washington D.C. this week. And -- as usual -- the Padres figure to be busy, with several holes to plug.

MLB.com and MLB Network will have wall-to-wall coverage of the 2016 Winter Meetings from the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. Fans can watch live streaming of all news conferences and manager availabilities on MLB.com, including the Rule 5 Draft on Thursday at 6 a.m. PT.
General manager A.J. Preller is no stranger to making a splash at the Meetings. Two years ago, he laid the groundwork for the Justin Upton and Matt Kemp deals. Last year, he finalized the Drew Pomeranz trade, dealt Jedd Gyorko for Jon Jay and acquired four Rule 5 selections.
This time around, Preller's main focus will be pitching -- especially after veteran Tyson Ross was non-tendered on Friday. But Preller would also like to add a shortstop and a couple veterans to offset a very young roster.

Preller said the Padres will "cast a wide net" in their search for rotation help -- meaning they'll explore every avenue, including trades, free agency and a couple internal options.
Coverage of the Padres' impending decisions, along with reaction to Preller's daily media sessions, will be live on padres.com all week. Manager Andy Green will also meet with the media at noon PT on Wednesday. The Friars are nearing the end of their search for two coaches on Green's staff, and he will likely address that process, as well as his team's pitching plans for 2017.
