SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres today announced they have selected the contracts of outfielder Franchy Cordero, infielder Javier Guerra and right-handed pitchers Walker Lockett and Jose Ruiz. In addition, right-handed pitcher Leonel Campos was claimed off outright waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays, infielder Brett Wallace was outrighted to Triple-A El Paso and elected free agency, and outfielder Oswaldo Arcia was designated for assignment. With today's transactions, the Padres currently have a full 40-man roster. Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller made the announcements.
 
The 22-year-old Cordero split the 2016 season between Single-A Lake Elsinore, Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A El Paso and hit a combined .290 (161-for-555) with 24 doubles, 16 triples, 11 home runs, 54 RBI, 79 runs scored, 39 walks and 23 stolen bases in 137 games played while earning Texas League Player of the Week honors for the week of August 1-7. Originally signed as a non-drafted free agent on November 1, 2011 by the Padres, the Dominican Republic native owns a lifetime .271 (470-for-1732) batting average with 60 doubles, 34 triples, 29 home runs, 187 RBI, 245 runs scored, 135 walks and 86 stolen bases. 
 
Guerra, 21, joined the Padres organization on November 13, 2015 as part of a five-player trade that sent RHP Craig Kimbrel to the Boston Red Sox. In 105 games for Single-A Lake Elsinore in 2016, the Panama native hit .202 (79-for-391) while making 102 starts, all at shortstop. Guerra, who originally signed with the Red Sox as an international free agent on July 2, 2012, was ranked by Baseball America as the 87th-best prospect in all of baseball in their midseason ranking update this past July. Over parts of four minor league seasons (2013-16), Guerra has hit .248 (306-for-1236) with 65 doubles, eight triples, 26 home runs, 158 RBI, 161 runs scored and 102 walks in 332 games played. Guerra was also tabbed a 2015 Mid-Season All-Star for Single-A Greensville of the Boston Red Sox.
 
The 22-year-old Lockett pitched to a combined 10-9 record and a 2.96 ERA (54 ER, 164.0 IP) with 123 strikeouts against 24 walks in 28 appearances, 25 starts, between all four levels of the Padres minor league system in 2016. The 6-5, 225-pound right-hander was originally drafted by the Padres in fourth round of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft. A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Lockett has pitched to a 14-16 record and a 3.79 ERA (119 ER, 282.1 IP) to go along with 210 strikeouts against 63 walks in 64 appearances, 48 starts, over parts of five minor league seasons. Lockett was also named a 2015 Northwest League Post-Season All-Star for Short-A Tri-City.
 
Ruiz, 22, went 2-0 with two saves and a 0.00 ERA (0 ER, 12.1 IP) in 2016 with 14 strikeouts against five walks in his 11 appearances between Single-A Lake Elsinore, Short-A Tri-City and the Arizona Rookie League. The Venezuela native was originally signed as an international free agent by the Padres on July 2, 2011. He spent the majority of his five seasons in the Padres minor league system as a catcher prior to making the transition to pitcher this year.
