Debuting his new weekly appearance on Padres Social Hour, the San Diego Union-Tribune's Nick Canepa came on the show to offer his letter grades for the first week of the Padres season.
Canepa's report card covers four categories: offense, defense, coaching, and pitching. Canepa found the offense less impressive than most -- despite San Diego's outburst in Colorado -- and also thinks the coaching still has a long way to go.
Along the way, Canepa and co-host Randy Jones found themselves in a debate with host Mike Janela about the validity of defensive shifts, and the old school vs. new school punches came flying.
