DENVER -- Padres third baseman Yangervis Solarte exited Saturday's 16-3 win over the Rockies with a right hamstring strain, and he was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.
Infielder-outfielder Alexi Amarista, was recalled from Triple-A El Paso.
After a fourth-inning single to the gap in left-center field, Solarte pulled up injured, about 15 feet before reaching the bag. The training staff came out to tend to him, and he was removed from the game immediately.
"We don't know the extent of it at this point in time," Padres manager Andy Green said after the game. "We're going to evaluate him, make a decision tomorrow, whether it's a [disabled list] situation. But obviously when you've got to help a guy off the field -- it wasn't a good situation for him."
Solarte had been one of the Padres' hottest hitters in the first week, having started the season 6-for-16. The Padres essentially named him their everyday third baseman at the start of camp, and he had responded nicely.
"It's frustrating -- it's early in the season, I'm trying to help the team, trying to play well," a visibly upset Solarte said through a team translator after the game. "It's frustrating, but I can't do anything about it. Especially having gotten an opportunity this year, I think anyone would be frustrated."
Solarte was replaced by Adam Rosales, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Rosales figures to take over for Solarte, in the short-term at least.
