Padres to monitor Cabrera's left hamstring cramp

PITTSBURGH -- Shortstop Everth Cabrera was a late scratch before the start of Sunday's finale vs. the Pirates with a left hamstring cramp, the Padres announced.

Cabrera was replaced by Alexi Amarista, who was initially in the lineup in left field. Abraham Almonte was then added to the starting lineup as the left fielder.

San Diego manager Bud Black said Cabrera was "a little sore", but that soreness was in a different spot than where the hamstring strain occurred previously.

"We're going to monitor him and hope that he can come out of it in a day or two," said Black, who noted the injury might have occurred when Cabrera stole a base on Saturday.

Cabrera, who missed 21 games in July with a left hamstring strain, has played well of late. Heading into Sunday's game, he had six hits in 15 at-bats on this road trip with two walks and two stolen bases.

Cabrera is hitting .350 in his last 10 games, and his 22 multi-hit games are tied for the team-lead with Seth Smith.

Cabrera also had a disabled list stint last season with a left hamstring strain.
