Padres to welcome Dodgers for 2016 opener

Schedule calls first visit to Toronto in club history

SAN DIEGO -- The Yankees and Red Sox will visit Petco Park next season and the Padres will make their first trip to Toronto in club history.

Major League Baseball released its tentative schedule for next season Tuesday, which will have the Padres facing the American League East in Interleague Play.

Tentative 2016 Padres schedule

The Padres will open the regular season at home against the Dodgers on April 4. The team will see a lot of its NL West Division foes early, playing six of their first nine series against NL West teams.

The Padres Interleague schedule will include visits to Petco Park by the Mariners (June 1-2), Orioles (June 28-29), Yankees (July 1-3) and Red Sox (Sept. 5-7).

The Yankees last visited Petco Park on 2013 while the Red Sox haven't played in San Diego since 2007. The Orioles last played the Padres in San Diego in 2013.

The Padres will make Interleague road trips to Seattle (May 30-31), Baltimore (June 21-22) and Tampa Bay (Aug. 15-17). They visit Toronto on July 25-27.

The Padres will play seven games on the road in July leading up to the All-Star Game at Petco Park on July 12.

The team will conclude the regular season with three games in Phoenix against the D-backs on Sept 30-Oct. 2.
