Pagan gets break from lineup to rest sore knee

SAN FRANCISCO --- It's just a day off for Angel Pagan.

The leadoff hitter and center fielder was not in the starting lineup for Sunday's three-game series finale against the Twins in order "to help the knee out and keep him fresh," manager Bruce Bochy said.

Pagan has had right knee soreness since April. He also missed last Sunday and Tuesday's games with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder, which he sustained while diving for a ball last Saturday against Miami.

Pagan, batting .316 with three home runs and 16 RBIs, does not have an RBI in his last 18 games.

Gregor Blanco (.143, no home runs, six RBIs) took over center field and leadoff duties Sunday.
