Crouching Pablo, Hidden Panda?

The loss of 2010 Rookie of The Year Buster Posey has been a serious blow to the World Champion San Francisco Giants. Posey was not only a power weapon offensively, but he was also an outstanding defensive backstop who handled the talented Giants’ starting rotation like a seasoned captain.

In recent weeks the Champs have tried to fill the large void behind the plate with "not ready for primetime players." The substitutes have been at times adequate but are in no way in the same class as Posey.

But, hold the phone! What's this? The Giants may have a solution right in their own bone yard (which is filled with water…but you get my meaning).

The Giants are toying with the idea of moving Pablo "The Kung Fu Panda" Sandoval to catcher. My thinking is…YES! Why not? Sandoval has slimmed down and has been a solid glove at third base. Plus, he does have some catching experience in the Majors, having briefly played the position for the Giants in 2008 and 2009. Not to mention he is a Kung Fu Master…that is still unverified, but he does have a strong arm.

I think if you can solve a problem from within the organization without making trades, do it.

If I learned anything from San Francisco’s improbable run last October, it's this: they are very capable of going beyond everyone else's expectations. Who knows, maybe Pablo is ninja-like with his ability to move to catcher in the blink of an eye and will surprise us all with his "Panda Style" moves behind the dish.
