Paredes recalled, scratched due to late arrival

HOUSTON -- Outfielder Jimmy Paredes was originally in the Astros' starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Angles. Paredes was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to fill the roster spot of Justin Maxwell, who was placed on the seven-day disabled list with concussion-related symptoms.

However, Astros manager Bo Porter was informed Sunday morning that Paredes would not make it to Houston for the 1:10 p.m. CT start, so Paredes was scratched from the starting lineup, but was available upon arrival.

Paredes was hitting .340 (52-for-153) in 41 games for Oklahoma City with five homers, 14 doubles and 22 RBIs. He also had a .404 on-base percentage and a .569 slugging percentage. This is his second big league stint in 2013.

"We look forward to having him here," Porter said. "The fact that he's played so well down at Oklahoma City weighed heavily on our decision for him being the guy to come up."
