Goldy, Segura lead D-backs' deluge vs. Reds

March 17th, 2016

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The D-backs won their eighth straight game Wednesday night as they beat the Reds, 10-6, at Salt River Fields.
Jon Moscot, who was a candidate for the Reds' rotation, was scratched from the start due to an intercostal muscle strain and Tim Adleman took his place.
The D-backs jumped on Adleman for a pair of runs in the first on RBIs by Paul Goldschmidt and Jake Lamb and then opened things up with five runs in the second to take a 7-0 lead.
Arizona starter Patrick Corbin tossed four-plus innings and allowed a pair of runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out six.

Goldschmidt led the D-backs offense going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Welington Castillo also drove in a pair of runs for Arizona.
Jose Peraza hit an RBI triple in the seventh off D-backs reliever Josh Collmenter and Brandon Dixon hit a three-run homer later that inning to close the gap to 9-6.

Although the game got away early, Reds manager Bryan Price was pleased with the one scoreless inning by reliever Tony Cingrani in the sixth. Cingrani did not allow a hit, walked one and struck out two.
"Cingrani, his arm is back up," Price said after the game. "He's throwing the breaking ball for strikes a couple of games in a row now, which is very exciting. The velocity and command of his fastball is good. His walk was right in the area where he wanted to be with his fastball, just off the plate. He was very impressive. I couldn't be any happier with Tony's last two outings. He looks like he's working his way back to the guy we remember in 2012 and 2013."
Up next for Reds: Catcher Devin Mesoraco will make his eagerly awaited spring debut on Thursday at 4:05 p.m. ET when the Reds meet the Indians at Goodyear Ballpark. Mesoraco, who will likely get two at-bats when he bats second in the order, will be in a game for the first time since having left hip surgery in June. Robert Stephenson is the scheduled starting pitcher.
Up next for D-backs:Archie Bradley, who is competing for the fifth spot in the rotation, will start for the D-backs on Thursday when they take on the Cubs at Sloan Park at 4:05 MST. Closer Brad Ziegler will make his second appearance of the spring.
