Ruiz could return to lineup next week

PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies announced Wednesday that catcher Carlos Ruiz will begin a rehab assignment Thursday with Class A Advanced Clearwater.

Ruiz has been on the disabled list since June 27 with a concussion.

He could rejoin the Phillies' lineup next week.

Ruiz is hitting .257 with two home runs, 14 RBIs and a .719 OPS in 273 plate appearances this season.
