Phillies Ballpark Buzz: Top Five Things to Know for Marlins Series (August 22-24)

This week, the Phillies return to Citizens Bank Park to take on the Miami Marlins in a four-game series (August 22-24). Below are the top five things to know; plus, prepare for your visit to Citizens Bank Park by checking out What's New at the Ballpark in food, fashion and fandom.

  1. Phillies Charities, Inc. Auction benefiting The Darren Daulton Foundation starting Monday.

Starting Monday, August 21, fans can bid on Daulton jerseys worn and signed by Dutch's teammates in a Phillies Charities, Inc. Auction on the Ballpark app until Sunday, August 27. Net proceeds benefit The Darren Daulton Foundation.

  1. Phillies Charities, Inc. Auction benefiting The Darren Daulton Foundation starting Monday.

Starting Monday, August 21, fans can bid on Daulton jerseys worn and signed by Dutch's teammates in a Phillies Charities, Inc. Auction on the Ballpark app until Sunday, August 27. Net proceeds benefit The Darren Daulton Foundation.

These jerseys were worn during the Toyota Phillies Alumni Day on-field, pregame ceremony on Sunday, August 13, 2017, by the following members of the 1993 National League Championship team:

  • Bill Giles, President of the 1993 National League Champion Phillies and current Phillies Chairman Emeritus
  • Larry Bowa, third base coach and Wall of Famer
  • Jim Eisenreich, outfielder
  • Kevin Stocker, shortstop
  • Tommy Greene, pitcher
  • Milt Thompson, outfielder
  • Mickey Morandini, second baseman
  • Larry Andersen, pitcher
  • John Kruk, first baseman and Wall of Famer

Items will be on display at the First Base Gate Plaza on Sunday.

  1. Double the fun with a doubleheader Tuesday. Plus, @Phillies Texting Gloves for all fans 15 & over!

The Phillies will hold a single-admission doubleheader on Tuesday, August 22 (rescheduled from Tuesday, April 25). Tickets purchased for August 22 are valid for both games of the doubleheader. The first game will begin at 4:05 p.m. and all gates will open at 3:00 p.m. The second game will begin 30 minutes after the end of the 4:05 p.m. game.

Fans 15 & over will receive @Phillies Texting Gloves. For additional information, please call Phillies Ticket Services at 215-463-1000.

  1. Celebrate at Phillies Pride Night Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, the Phillies invite fans to celebrate Philadelphia's rich LGBT culture at the second annual Pride Night Celebration at Citizens Bank Park.

Amber Hikes, Director of the Office of LGBT Affairs for the City of Philadelphia, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the 4:05 p.m. game. Plus, the first 1,500 fans that purchase tickets through this Theme Night ticket offer will receive a coupon for Phillies rainbow socks.

  1. Police Athletic League (PAL) Celebrity Softball Game on Wednesday. Plus, Freddy Galvis to be recognized by PAL.

On Wednesday, August 23, beginning at 5:30 p.m., local television personalities and print newspaper writers will play softball against web and radio personalities to benefit the Police Athletic League prior to the 7:05 p.m. Phillies game.

After the PAL celebrity softball game, PAL representatives will make a pregame presentation to Freddy Galvis, recognizing him for his community service and a PAL youngster accompanied by Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross Jr. will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. In the 7th inning, PAL kids and a PAL officer will dance on the dugout with the Phanatic.

  1. Play hookie with us at Thursday's Citizens Bank Businessperson's Special and receive the Citizens Bank Pride of the Phillies Print!

On Thursday, August 24, fans are invited to head out of the office and enjoy an afternoon of baseball at the Citizens Bank Businessperson's Special during the 1:05 p.m. Phillies game. It's a great way to kick back with coworkers or entertain a client.

Also on Thursday, all fans will receive a Citizens Bank Pride of the Phillies Print featuring Freddy Galvis.

Gate Openings: Ashburn Alley opens two hours prior to game time; all gates open one and a half hours prior to game time. Please be aware that on Monday, August 22, all gates will open at 3:00 p.m. for the first game of the doubleheader beginning 4:05 p.m.

Fandom: Check-in using Ballpark, Citizens Bank Park's official mobile app, to receive special offers for retail, concessions and more. Also, follow the action via @Phillies on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat.

Broadcast: For the most up-to-date TV broadcast schedule, please go to Phillies.com. MLB.TV and SportsRadio 94WIP will host all games during the season. CSN Philly will stream the games, as well as the pre- and post-game shows, on www.csnphilly.com and on the NBC Sports app.

Traffic: Fans should be aware of dual events taking place at the sports complex on Tuesday, August 22.
