Phillies give Revere another day to rest ribs

PHILADELPHIA -- For the second night in a row, the Phillies were without center fielder Ben Revere in their starting lineup. Manager Ryne Sandberg penciled in Tony Gwynn Jr. in his place with the hope that some rest can help Revere get through bruised ribs.

"Ben is still a little bit tender," Sandberg said. "We just want to give him a chance to feel better. We'll see where he's at tomorrow."

Revere initially hurt his ribs on an attempted diving catch in Wednesday's 9-4 loss to Milwaukee. Revere is hitting .286 (12-for-42) in 10 games with a team-high seven runs scored.
