PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies have one of the deepest farm systems in baseball, and it showed in MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospects list.
The Phils have six players in the top 100: right-hander Sixto Sanchez (No. 26), second baseman Scott Kingery (No. 35), shortstop J.P. Crawford (No. 37), right-hander Adonis Medina (No. 86), outfielder Mickey Moniak (No. 88) and outfielder Adam Haseley (No. 95). Crawford won't be on the list for long. He will be the Phillies' Opening Day shortstop, so he will lose his rookie status before the end of April.

The annual ranking of MLB's Top 100 prospects is assembled by MLB Pipeline Draft and prospect experts Jonathan Mayo, Jim Callis and Mike Rosenbaum, who compile input from industry sources, including scouts and scouting directors. It is based on analysis of players' skill sets, upsides, proximity to the Majors and potential immediate impact to their teams. Only players with rookie status entering the 2018 season are eligible for the list. Players who were at least 25 years old when they signed and played in leagues deemed to be professional (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Cuba) are not eligible.
The Phils are tied with the Yankees and Rays for the fourth-most prospects in the top 100. Only the Braves (eight), Padres (seven) and White Sox (seven) have more.
Sanchez, 19, is expected to open the season with Class A Advanced Clearwater. He went 5-3 with a 2.41 ERA in 13 starts last season with Class A Lakewood before joining the Threshers. He went 0-4 with a 4.55 ERA in five starts with Clearwater, but he was the youngest starting pitcher in the league upon his promotion. He should fare better in 2018.
Sanchez is ranked highly because he not only throws his fastball in the high 90s, hitting 100 mph on occasion, but also because he throws his pitches for strikes. He struck out 84 batters and walked just 18 in 95 innings in 2017.
Kingery, 23, is the No. 1 second-base prospect in baseball. He will open in Triple-A Lehigh Valley, but he could join the Phillies as early as this summer.

Crawford, 23, played well enough in limited action last September that the Phils traded Freddy Galvis to the Padres.

Medina, 21, went 4-9 with a 3.01 ERA in 22 starts with Lakewood last season. He struck out 133 and walked 39 in 119 2/3 innings.

All eyes will be on Moniak, 19, in 2018. He is looking for a big rebound season. The Phillies selected him with the first overall pick in the '16 Draft, but he hit just .236 with a .625 OPS in 509 plate appearances with Lakewood last season. Philadelphia has made a point to say Moniak was one of the youngest players in the South Atlantic League last year, but that will no longer be the case. The Phils are keeping their fingers crossed an extra year of experience will get him back on track.

Haseley, 21, was the eighth overall pick in the 2017 Draft. He hit .284 with a .761 OPS at three levels during his introduction to pro ball.
