Phillies Minor League review for June 19-25

Players of the Week
Player - OF Jiandido Tromp, Reading… Tromp, 23, batted .455 (10-22) with two doubles, four home runs, seven RBI and a 1.591 OPS in six games. The Aruba native homered in three straight games from June 20-22 and recorded an RBI in five straight from June 20-25. His 24 total bases were most among any Phillies minor leaguer last week and third among all minor league players. Tromp was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent on August 8, 2011.
Pitcher - LHP Cole Irvin, Clearwater… The 23-year-old Irvin made one start for the Threshers, tossing 7.0 innings and allowing just one run on five hits with six strikeouts on June 21. Irvin has allowed just one earned run in his three starts in June (16.0 IP, 0.56 ERA) and has allowed one earned run or fewer in eight of his 11 starts this season. He is tied for ninth in the Florida State League with a 2.55 ERA (19 ER, 67.0 IP) this season, and has posted an ERA of 1.85 (13 ER, 64.0 IP) as a starter. Irvin was selected by the Phillies in the fifth round of the June 2016 draft.
Lehigh Valley IronPigs - International League North Division…49-27, 1st place… The IronPigs went 4-3 last week, winning each of their first three games of the week, two of which were shutouts. Their 10 shutouts this season are most in the International League. Lehigh Valley is leading the IL North by two-and-a-half games over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Top hitting performers - 1B Rhys Hoskins batted .458 (11-24) with two doubles, a pair of home runs, a team-high eight RBI, six walks and a 1.372 OPS. He leads the International League with 61 RBI and is tied for the lead with 17 home runs… SS J.P. Crawford doubled four times and drove in six runs, batting .286 (8-28)… OF Andrew Pullin played in his first four career triple-A games, hitting safely in each of them while batting .294 (5-17) with two doubles, a home run and five RBI. Pullin is now one of only six minor league players with 40 extra-base hits this season.
Top pitching performers - RHP made two starts, combining to post a 1.35 ERA (2 ER, 13.1 IP) with 11 strikeouts. Appel has a 2.32 ERA (8 ER, 31.0 IP) in five starts this month… RHP did not allow a baserunner and struck out three in 3.0 scoreless innings in relief. He has a 13.2-inning scoreless streak… RHP Jesen Therrien threw 2.0 scoreless innings out of the bullpen and earned a save in his one save opportunity.
Reading Fightin Phils - Eastern League Eastern Division…42-29, 2nd place… Reading won four of six games, winning three-game series against both Akron and Trenton. The Fightins hit 10 home runs last week and now have 79 this season, 15 more than the next closest team in the Eastern League.
Top hitting performers - OF Jiandido Tromp homered four times and drove in seven runs while batting .455 (10-22) in six games. He was named Phillies Minor League Player of the Week and Eastern League Player of the Week… 2B Scott Kingery had nine hits in 21 at-bats (.429), doubled twice, tripled, knocked in five runs and stole two bases. He was promoted to triple-A Lehigh Valley following the week… 3B Mitch Walding connected with three home runs, two of which came on June 24. It was his fourth multi-home run game already this season. He also hit two doubles while batting .300 (6-20)… OF Zach Coppola had five multi-hit games, including four straight from June 20-23. He batted .400 (10-25) for the week.
Top pitching performers - LHP Brandon Leibrandt tossed 6.0 shutout innings on June 21 and has now allowed just three earned runs in his last 19.0 innings (1.42 ERA)… RHP Ranfi Casimiro tossed 2.0 perfect innings with four strikeouts in his one relief outing.
Clearwater Threshers - Florida State League North Division…3-1, T-1st place, 41-33 overall… The Threshers won both of their series, taking two of three from Bradenton to end the first half and three of four from Daytona to begin the second half. Clearwater finished one game back in the first-half division race, marking the fifth straight half they have finished in the top two in the division (each half since the start of 2015).
Top hitting performers - 1B Wilson Garcia was tied for second among all minor leaguers with four home runs last week and was fourth among all minor leaguers with 12 RBI. He had four home runs in his first 54 games, and clubbed four in a five-game span last week… OF Cord Sandberg hit safely in all five of his games, batting .381 (8-21) with two doubles, a home run and three RBI. He tied a career high with four hits on June 23… SS Emmanuel Marrero was 10-for-28 (.357) with two doubles, three RBI and two stolen bases.
Top pitching performers - In his lone start of the week, LHP Cole Irvin threw 7.0 innings of one-run ball, scattering five hits while striking out six batters as he earned Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Week honors. He has a 0.56 ERA (1 ER, 16.0 IP) in his last three starts… LHP Jeff Singer did not allow a run in 4.1 innings of work over four appearances. He earned a save in three straight appearances during the week and has now converted 15 of 17 this season. His 15 saves are almost twice as many as the next closest in the Florida State League (8)… RHP made one start, striking out five batters in 5.0 innings while surrendering one unearned run on just two hits.
Lakewood BlueClaws - South Atlantic League Northern Division…0-4, 7th place, 40-34 overall… In the South Atlantic League All-Star Game on June 20, LHP Nick Fanti started for the North All-Stars, while LHP JoJo Romero and C Edgar Cabral also appeared in the game representing Lakewood. Following the All-Star break, the BlueClaws dropped each of their four games at Delmarva, including two one-run games.  
Top hitting performers - 1B Darick Hall batted .471 (8-17) with three doubles, two home runs and five RBI in four games. He leads the club with 112 total bases this season… C Henri Lartigue hit safely in each of his three games during the week, going 6-12 (.500) with four extra-base hits (2 2B, 2 HR)… OFMickey Moniak hit .357 (5-14) with a pair of doubles in four games.
Top pitching performers - RHP Sixto Sanchez notched a quality start on June 23, surrendering two runs on four hits over 6.0 innings, while walking none and recording seven strikeouts… RHP Mauricio Llovera tossed 2.0 scoreless, hitless, innings of relief with two walks and four strikeouts in his lone outing on June 23… LHP Casey Brown logged two scoreless relief appearances (2.0 IP).    
Williamsport Crosscutters - New York-Penn League Pinckney Division…1-6, 6th place… The Crosscutters lost six straight games after winning their season-opener at State College, 9-2, on June 19. Four of their six losses were by two runs or fewer. Williamsport's pitchers surrendered just 53 hits over 63.0 innings during the week. 
Top hitting performers - 1B Greg Pickett hit safely in five of his six games, batting .280 (7-25) with two doubles, a home run and three RBI… INF Cole Stobbe homered in each of his first two games of the season… 2B Brian Mims went 2-for-4 with one double and an RBI in his professional debut on June 25.
Top pitching performers -LHP Kyle Young went 1-0 with a 3.24 ERA (3 ER, 8.1 IP) and 11 strikeouts in two starts. He tossed 5.0 scoreless innings in the season opener on June 19… RHP Julian Garcia surrendered one run on three hits over 5.0 innings, while walking one and striking out seven on June 22… RHP Luis Ramirez tossed 5.0 scoreless innings over two games in relief.
