Phillies Minor League review for May 1-7

Players of the Week
Player 1B Darick Hall, Lakewood… The 21-year-old Hall batted .304 (7-23) with a double, triple, four home runs, eight RBI, two walks, nine runs scored and a .957 slugging percentage. He recorded a hit, scored a run and drove in a run in five of his six games and homered in four of his last five. The Arizona native now has seven extra-base hits and 12 RBI in his last 12 games. Hall was selected by the Phillies in the 14th round of the June 2016 draft.
Pitcher - LHP Nick Fanti, Lakewood… Fanti, 20, tossed a career-high 8.2 scoreless, hitless innings in his start on May 6 at Columbia, doing the bulk of the work in what ended up being the fifth no-hitter in franchise history. He struck out a season-high nine batters, one short of tying his career mark. Fanti has held opponents to the lowest batting average in the South Atlantic League this season (.133), and also ranks fifth in WHIP (0.79) and seventh in ERA (1.48). After starting 2-0 this season, he has won his last nine decisions, with his last loss coming on August 25, 2015. He possesses an overall professional record of 10-1. Fanti was selected by the Phillies in the 31st round of the June 2015 draft.
Lehigh Valley IronPigs - International League North Division…16-13, 4th place… The IronPigs took two of three games from both Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Buffalo, ending the week with a double-header sweep. Lehigh Valley has played a league-leading 11 games in scheduled doubleheaders this year (one game in a DH was postponed), going 8-3 in those games.
Top hitting performers - 1B Rhys Hoskins doubled twice, hit two home runs, drove in a team-high eight runs, walked three times and batted .333 (6-18) with a 1.187 OPS in six games. He is tied for the league lead in home runs (8) and RBI (20)… OF  was also 6-for-18 (.333) with a triple, home run, five RBI, three walks and four runs scored.
Top pitching performers - SHP Pat Venditte  did not allow a hit in 3.1 scoreless innings in relief over two games, striking out four. He has allowed one hit in 14.1 scoreless innings to start the season (.024 OPP AVG, 1-41)… RHP  appeared in three games, recording two saves in two opportunities and allowing just one baserunner in 3.0 scoreless innings… RHP  did not allow a run and struck out five batters in 3.0 innings of work over three games.
Reading Fightin Phils - Eastern League Eastern Division…15-11, 4th place… Reading won four of seven games, helping to a series win over New Hampshire and series split against Portland. The Fightins have won or split each of their last five series.
Top hitting performers - 2B Scott Kingery collected five extra-base hits (2 2B, 2 3B, HR), drove in two runs, scored eight runs and was 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts. Kingery ranks first in the league in runs (27), tied for first in triples (3), second in slugging percentage (.633) and extra-base hits (16) and tied for second in home runs (7)… OF Jiandido Tromp batted .316 (6-19) with three doubles, a home run, three RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base… CF Carlos Tocci had a pair of multi-hit games, hitting two doubles and a home run and scoring four runs.
Top pitching performers - RHP Tom Eshelman pitched 7.0 innings of one-run ball with just one hit allowed and four strikeouts in his lone start of the week… RHP Jesen Therrien was 2-for-2 in save opportunities and struck out six batters over 4.0 scoreless, hitless innings in relief.
Clearwater Threshers - Florida State League North Division…19-12, 1st place… The Threshers split four games with Jupiter and lost two of three against Florida to finish the week 3-4. Clearwater still has the best record in the Florida State League and ranks second in the league in ERA (2.84).
Top hitting performers - 2B Drew Stankiewicz batted .440 (11-25) with three doubles, a home run, four RBI, a walk and three runs scored… 1B/3B Damek Tomscha homered, walked four times, scored five runs and batted .385 (10-26) with a .484 on-base percentage… C Deivi Grullon was 8-for-20 (.400) with a double, home run and five RBI. He has hit safely in 10 straight games.
Top pitching performers - RHP Seranthony Dominguez made two starts, combining to allow four earned runs in 12.0 innings pitched while striking out 13 batters… RHP Franklyn Kilome tossed 5.0 innings, allowing two runs while striking out six and walking none. He has not walked a batter in three of his five starts… RHP Edgar Garcia had two scoreless, hitless 2.0-inning relief appearances. He struck out three in the first one and five in the next.
Lakewood BlueClaws - South Atlantic League Northern Division…19-12, 2nd place… Lakewood went 6-0 last week, extending their winning streak to eight games, which ties a franchise record. They outscored opponents 39-19, and highlighted the streak with a 9.0-inning combined no-hitter on May 6 at Columbia. It was the fifth no-hitter in BlueClaws' history, and first since 2013.
Top hitting performers - 1B Darick Hall clubbed four home runs, hitting one in four of his final five games of the week. He also doubled, tripled, drove in eight runs and scored nine more while batting .304 (7-23). Hall was named Phillies Minor League Player of the Week… OF Carlos Duran batted .353 (6-17) with two doubles, a triple, two RBI and four runs scored in four games… CF Mickey Moniak doubled twice, drove in two runs, scored four runs and batted .280 (7-25).
Top pitching performers - LHP Nick Fanti did not allow a run or hit in a career-high 8.2 innings, striking out nine in what ended up being a no-hitter for the BlueClaws. He was named Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Week… LHP Ranger Suarez allowed two runs (1 ER) in 6.2 innings with no walks and seven strikeouts. His scoreless streak came to an end at 23.1 consecutive innings… RHP Trevor Bettencourt earned two saves, each in 0.1 innings pitched. He struck out the final batter of Lakewood's no-hitter over Columbia on May 6.
