Phillies Minor League review: May 23-29

Players of the Week
Player 2B Scott Kingery, Clearwater… The 22-year-old Kingery batted .355 (11-31) with five doubles, a triple, a home run, four RBI, two walks and a 1.077 OPS in seven games. He hit safely in each of those seven games, recording multiple hits in three of them. With his five doubles last week, Kingery now has 19 this season, which is the most in the Florida State League by six. He is also tied for the league lead with 24 extra-base hits. Kingery was selected by the Phillies in the second round of the June 2015 draft out of the University of Arizona.
Pitcher - RHP Harold Arauz, Lakewood... Arauz, 21, made one start for the BlueClaws, tossing a career-high 8.0 scoreless innings, yielding only four hits and striking out five on May 26. He has now allowed zero earned runs in four of his eight starts this season, including three consecutive starts (21.0 IP). Opponents are hitting just .197 (30-152) against him. The Panama native was acquired from Houston along with four others in exchange for Ken Giles and Jonathan Arauz on December 12, 2015, and was originally signed by the Astros as an amateur free agent on July 12, 2011.
Lehigh Valley IronPigs - International League North Division…25-24, 5th place… Lehigh Valley picked up just one win in six games last week, but they still sit just 3.5 games behind Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for first place in a tightly-packed division. The IronPigs will finish their homestand with three games against Norfolk before embarking on an eight-game road trip.
Top hitting performers - OF Nick Williams batted .435 (10-23) with six runs scored, three doubles, two RBI, two walks, a stolen base and a pair of three-hit games… INF/OF Darin Ruf clubbed three home runs and drove in eight runs in six games while batting .333 (8-24)… OF Cam Perkins also homered three times, driving in six runs while posting a .500 on-base percentage and 1.500 OPS. His four RBI on May 29 were a season-high.
Top pitching performers - RHP Ben Lively went 7.0 innings in his only start of the week, holding Louisville to two runs on five hits in his first triple-A start. He has allowed two earned runs or fewer in all but two of his 10 starts overall this season… RHP Edubray Ramos struck out two in 2.0 perfect innings in relief. He has not allowed a run and has struck out 13 batters in 11.2 innings with Lehigh Valley.
Reading Fightin Phils - Eastern League Eastern Division …33-17, 1st place… The Fightins won four of their seven games, averaging 6.57 runs per game during the week (46 total runs). Reading leads the Eastern League with a .271 team batting average this season.
Top hitting performers - CF Roman Quinn stole five bases in six games, bringing his season total to 24, which is tied for the league lead. He batted .357 (10-28) with eight runs, two doubles and three walks… 2B Jesmuel Valentin recorded three multi-hit games, batting .300 (9-30) with a pair of home runs and five RBI… C Jorge Alfaro also homered twice, driving in six runs while scoring six more… OF Dylan Cozens leads the league with 14 home runs after belting three more in seven games last week. He drove in nine runs and doubled four times… INF/OF Angelo Mora hit safely in all five of his games, collecting eight hits in 17 at-bats (.471). He homered, doubled, drove in four runs and stole a base.
Top pitching performers - LHP Joely Rodriguez appeared in four games out of the bullpen, going 1-0 with two unearned runs and one walk allowed in 7.0 innings of work… LHP Hoby Milner struck out four batters and allowed just one hit in 4.0 scoreless innings of relief.
Clearwater Threshers - Florida State League North Division…30-20, 2nd place… Clearwater went 4-3, finishing their week with a series victory over Lakeland. Three of Clearwater's wins were by one run, and they now have the best winning percentage in the league in such games (.636, 7-4).
Top hitting performers -  2B Scott Kingery was named Phillies Minor League Player of the Week after batting .355 (11-31) with seven extra-base hits (5 2B, 3B, HR) and four RBI. Kingery now has 19 doubles this season, while nobody else in the league has more than 13… INF Zach Green went 7-for-20 (.350) with a home run, double and a pair of RBI. He hit safely in all six of his games… 1B Kyle Martin hit three home runs and knocked in five runs in his six games played.
Top pitching performers -  RHP Tom Eshelman allowed two runs in 7.0 innings, scattering seven hits while walking none and striking out six. He has 53 strikeouts to 11 walks in nine starts this season… LHP Elniery Garcia tossed 6.0 shutout innings on May 26, allowing only four hits. Garcia has a 2.08 ERA this season and has allowed two earned runs or fewer in seven of his eight games (seven starts)… RHP Tyler Viza tied a career high with 11 strikeouts in his start against Lakeland on May 27. He surrendered one run and did not walk a batter in his 6.0 innings.
Lakewood BlueClaws - South Atlantic League Northern Division…19-30, 7th place… The Blue Claws lost two of three to Hagerstown, but then split a four-game set with Delmarva to finish the week 3-4. Lakewood will finish May with a record above .500 if they can win the first two games of their upcoming series with West Virginia.
Top hitting performers - 2B Josh Tobias recorded three consecutive multi-hit games to end a week in which he batted .333 (9-27) with three runs scored, two doubles, two RBI, two walks and a stolen base… OF Jose Pujols hit his ninth home run of the season, doubled twice and drove in four runs in his seven games.
Top pitching performers - RHP Harold Arauz threw a career-high 8.0 scoreless innings on May 26, limiting Delmarva to just four hits while recording five strikeouts. He was named Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Week… RHP Franklyn Kilome had a quality start on May 27, allowing three runs while striking out five in 6.0 innings… RHP Drew Anderson has 14 strikeouts in 10.2 innings this season after striking out nine in 5.2 frames during his only start last week. He allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits.
