Phillies Minor League Review: May 28-June 3

Player - OF Mickey Moniak, Clearwater… The 20-year-old posted a .414/.433/.621 slash line, going 12-for-29 with four extra-base hits, seven RBI, three runs scored and one stolen base. Moniak is riding an 11-game hitting streak since May 22, during which he is batting .370 (17-46) with five doubles, one home run and 12 RBI. The California-native was selected by the Phillies in the first round (No. 1 overall) of the June 2016 draft.
Pitcher - LHP Will Stewart, Lakewood… Stewart, 20, logged the first professional shutout (and complete game) of his career on May 30 vs Greensboro, striking out a career-high 10 batters and yielding just three hits and no walks. It was his sixth straight quality start since April 25. He was also named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week. Stewart, who leads the league with a 1.23 ERA this season, was selected by the Phillies in the 20th round of the June 2015 draft.
Lehigh Valley IronPigs - International League North Division… 30-25, 1st place… The IronPigs went   2-5 last week. Offensively, they lead the International League with 58 home runs this season. They slugged 39 homers in 30 games during May.
 
Top hitting performers - INF batted .353 (6-17) with one home run, three RBI and three walks in five games. He tied for the team lead with 14 walks in May… SS hit safely in five of his seven games last week, going 8-for-26 (.308) with three doubles, one RBI, two walks and two runs scored.
 
Top pitching performers - RHP struck out nine of the 12 batters he faced, allowing just one hit over 3.2 scoreless innings of relief (2 games)… LHP Cole Irvin was one out shy of tossing a complete-game shutout in his lone start of the week on May 30. He struck out six, walked one and allowed four hits over 8.2 scoreless innings in the win. His 2.73 season ERA ranks fifth among qualifying pitchers in the International League… RHP notched his sixth straight quality start, allowing three runs over 7.0 innings with six strikeouts in his only outing. He owns the lowest ERA (1.70) in the league this season.
 
Reading Fightin Phils - Eastern League Eastern Division… 23-31, 5th place… Reading won four of its seven games last week, including a series win (2-1) at Trenton. All three of the Fightin Phils' losses were by one run.
 
Top hitting performers OF Jan Hernandez doubled twice, homered and drove in a team-best six runs last week, while batting .320 (8-25) with five runs scored over six contests. He entered play today with the sixth-highest batting average (.321) in the Eastern League… C Deivi Grullon went 6-for-22 (.273) with two home runs, four RBI and four runs scored in six games. He led Reading in batting average (.370), OPS (1.085) and tied for first in home runs (7) during May… 1B Darick Hall collected three hits in his first three games at the double-A level, including a home run in his debut with the Fightin Phils on June 1.
 
Top pitching performers - LHP JoJo Romero allowed one run on five hits over 8.0 innings in his only start last week, striking out seven and earning a win… LHP went 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA (3 ER, 12.0 IP) and seven strikeouts in two starts. He has allowed two earned runs or fewer in six of his last seven starts… RHP logged a quality start, surrendering two runs over 6.0 innings, while walking one and striking out six.
 
Clearwater Threshers - Florida State League North Division… 24-30, 4th place… The Threshers dropped two of three against Fort Myers to begin the week before winning four of their next five games against Florida, including three straight victories to end the week. They shut out Florida twice, which gives them four shutout victories this season.
 
Top hitting performers - OF Mickey Moniak, the Phillies Minor League Player of the Week, batted .414 (12-29) with three doubles, one home run, seven RBI, one steal and posted a 1.054 OPS in seven games… OF Adam Haseley posted a .370/.469/.519 slash line, going 10-for-27 with three extra-base hits, four walks and a team-high 10 runs scored over seven contests… OF Austin Listi, who was named a Florida State League midseason All-Star, led Clearwater with 11 RBI last week. He collected two doubles, a home run, seven walks and scored six runs in seven games, while batting .333 (8-24)… OF Jose Pujols doubled, homered, drove in six runs, drew four walks and posted a .966 OPS in six games.
 
Top pitching performers - RHP Sixto Sanchez, who was selected as the Florida State League Pitcher of the Week, tossed a 7.0-inning shutout on June 3 vs Florida, allowing just two hits and two walks, while striking out five. He is 3-1 with a 0.70 ERA (2 ER, 25.2 IP) and has 29 strikeouts to four walks in his last four starts since May 11… RHP Adonis Medina earned a win in his lone start, recording six strikeouts and allowing just one unearned run over 7.0 innings… LHP Nick Fanti allowed one run on one hit over 6.0 innings in his third start of the season.
 
Lakewood BlueClaws - South Atlantic League Northern Division… 33-23, 2nd place Lakewood won at Delmarva on May 28 before winning both of its series last week, taking two of three from Greensboro and Hickory. The BlueClaws are 8-2 over their last 10 games.
 
Top hitting performers - C Rodolfo Duran hit .368 (7-19) with two doubles, one home run, five RBI, four runs scored and posted a 1.000 OPS in five games… OF Jhailyn Ortiz went 9-for-27 (.333) with three RBI over seven contests. He collected a career-high four hits on June 2 vs Hickory… C Colby Fitch hit safely in all five of his games, going 6-for-18 (.333) with three doubles… INF Dalton Guthrie batted .333 (6-18) over five games.
Top pitching performers - LHP Will Stewart, the Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Week, tossed his first professional shutout (and complete game) with a career-high 10 strikeouts on May 30 vs Greensboro… LHP David Parkinson struck out 16 batters over 13.0 innings across his two starts last week. He allowed three unearned runs on eight hits, while walking just one. He has not allowed an earned run over his last 21.0 innings (since May 14)… LHP Damon Jones fanned eight over 7.0 scoreless innings, while earning a win in his only start… RHP Ramon Rosso allowed one run and scattered four hits across 6.0 innings, while recording six strikeouts in his lone start. He has allowed one earned run or none in eight of his nine starts this season… LHP Kyle Dohy got all seven of his outs via strikeout in his two hitless relief appearances (2.1 IP). He has recorded at least one strikeout in all 19 of his relief appearances in 2018, averaging 17.00 SO/9.0 IP (51 SO, 27.0 IP), which is the highest mark among qualifying South Atlantic League relievers… Stewart (1st, 1.23), Parkinson (2nd, 1.34), Rosso (3rd, 1.44) and Jones (5th, 1.88) all rank in the top five for lowest ERA in the league this season.
