Phillies reveal new Minor League training center

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The Phillies showed off their new Minor League training facility Tuesday at Carpenter Complex.

They broke ground in April on the recently completed 20,000-square-foot complex, which includes a nearly 5,000-square-foot fitness room, six indoor batting cages and a video center. Four bare-bones batting cages once stood in the spot.

"We had room, we had space, we had square footage," said director of Minor League operations Lee McDaniel. "We wanted to create an environment for players who wanted to come down here in the offseason and work out. We think we've done that. We really think this will enhance our player development from the ground up here in Clearwater."
