Phils announce guest instructors for Spring Training

PHILADELPHIA -- Charlie Manuel will be in a Phillies uniform throughout Spring Training as a guest instructor.
The team on Tuesday announced six guest instructors, including Manuel, for spring camp. The others are Larry Andersen, Chad Durbin, Wes Helms, Brad Lidge and Mike Schmidt. Manuel will be in camp the entire time, while the others will be there intermittently throughout the spring.

The group represents the 1980 and 2008 World Series-championship teams and the '83 and '93 National League pennant winners.
Andersen, Lidge, Manuel and Schmidt have worked in previous camps. This will be the first time Durbin and Helms will be guest instructors.
The Phillies also announced the remaining members of their Spring Training instructional staff. The group includes: Pete Mackanin (manager), Larry Bowa (bench coach), Rick Kranitz (assistant pitching coach), Bob McClure (pitching coach), John McLaren (bullpen coach), Mickey Morandini (first-base coach), Juan Samuel (third-base coach), Matt Stairs (hitting coach), Jesus Tiamo (bullpen catcher) and Bob Stumpo (bullpen catcher); the Triple-A staff of Dusty Wathan (manager), Sal Rende (coach) and Dave Lundquist (pitching coach); Minor League coordinators Andy Abad (outfield/baserunning), Frank Cacciatore (assistant hitting), Rafael Chaves (pitching), Doug Mansolino (field), Andy Tracy (hitting), Chris Truby (infield) and Ernie Whitt (catching); and player development staff members Carlos Arroyo and Jorge Velandia.
The first official workout for Phillies pitchers and catchers is Feb. 14. The first full-squad workout is Feb. 17.
