Pipeline Preview: Cowart hits his stride

Angels' No. 1 prospect has been an RBI machine during hitting streak

Not long ago, Kaleb Cowart was a Top 100 prospect, considered to be one of the best up-and-coming third basemen in the game. But he suffered through a rough 2013 season, leaving some to wonder what kind of future the 2010 first-round pick of the Angels actually had.

If the last week is any indication, the Angels' No. 1 prospect could be on his way to reclaiming his status as a top prospect at the hot corner. Cowart carries a seven-game hitting streak into his game on Monday night, as Arkansas travels to Northwest Arkansas in an intrastate Texas League battle that can be watched on MiLB.TV.

During his streak, Cowart has gone 13-for-31. He's homered in three of his past four games, and he has 12 RBIs since the streak began last Monday.

Cowart hasn't been the only RBI machine who is in action on Monday. Victor Roache, No. 7 on the Brewers' Top 20, is fresh off a three-homer game on Sunday and drove in 10 runs last week. He and his Brevard County squad host Clearwater in Florida State League action.

Austin Wilson, No. 13 on the Mariners' Top 20, drove in 11 runs last week, thanks to a six-RBI game on Saturday. He also hit his two homers this season in his past seven games, carrying that hot bat for Clinton in the Midwest League to Burlington on Monday night.

If pitching is more your cup of tea, there's plenty of it to follow in Monday's action. There are five Top 100 hurlers taking the hill: Tyler Glasnow (PIT, No. 25), Mike Foltynewicz (HOU, No. 51), Julio Urias (LAD, No. 59), Matt Wisler (SD, No. 73) and Rafael Montero (NYM, No. 79). Foltynewicz and Oklahoma City can be seen on MiLB.TV at 12:05 p.m. ET. Finish your evening by watching Wisler and El Paso at 8:35 p.m., or check out Montero and Las Vegas at 9:05 p.m.
