Pirates' bullpen well rested for doubleheader

BALTIMORE -- The Pirates came into Thursday's doubleheader in Baltimore with a very rested bullpen thanks to three days off, two of which came from the rainouts on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said he'll have plenty of cards to play from the bullpen, something which will help him in both games.

"It's good because you've got a doubleheader … [and] we're in the best shape we could be [in] to go and play at least 18 innings," Hurdle said.

The Pirates will use different pitchers out of the bullpen depending on the situation.

"It's all about where you are in the game," Hurdle said. "We have a certain plan of attack when we're ahead. We have a plan of attack when we're tied, and we have a plan of attack when we're behind by a run. After one run, two runs down, it can switch."
