Skyblast featuring Styx & Stand Up to Cancer Night Headline Homestand

The Pittsburgh Pirates return to PNC Park for an 11-game homestand as they play host to the Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers Monday, August 6 thru Thursday, August 16. The ninth homestand of 2012 is highlighted by Stand Up to Cancer Night on Friday, August 10, the season’s first Skyblast-- presented by Iron City Beer-- featuring the rock band Styx and Zambelli Fireworks on Saturday, August 11 after the Pirates battle the Padres, and the Pirates Charities on ROOT SPORTS Auction on Monday, August 13 during the game versus the Dodgers.

  • Pups in the Park: Fans can bring their pooch to the park as the Pirates and Dad’s Pet Care present Pup Nights at PNC Park. Tonight’s Pups in the Park is reserved exclusively for greyhounds. Each ticket package (1 person & 1 dog) costs just $25 with additional human tickets available for $25 each. Wednesday, August 8, 2012—Pirates vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (7:05 p.m.)

  • Heart and Hustle Award: Tonight in a pregame ceremony, Andrew McCutchen will receive the Major League Baseball Alumni Association’s Heart and Hustle Award. This esteemed award honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit, and tradition of the game. McCutchen will be presented the award by former Pirates pitcher Kent Tekulve in the on-field ceremony.
  • Junior Pirates Night at PNC Park: Tonight over 600 Junior Pirates players and coaches will participate in a group salute. The Junior Pirates players, formally known as Rookie Ball, is a 22-year-old program that is a cooperative effort between Citiparks and the Pittsburgh Pirates to introduce the basics of baseball to youth ages 4 thru 8 through a series of 5 stations. With over 2500 participants at 20 sites throughout the city, it is one of the most successful and prized programs now operated and organized through the BIG League program. All Junior Pirate participants are honored at PNC Park on Junior Pirates Day and given tickets to that day's game, all courtesy of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Thursday, August 9, 2012—Pirates vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (4:05 p.m.)

  • Special Start Time of 4:05 p.m.: The first of three late afternoon starts this season. Fans can work almost a full day then spend the afternoon and dinner at PNC Park.

Friday, August 10, 2012—Pirates vs. San Diego Padres (7:05 p.m.)

  • Stand Up 2 Cancer Night: Tonight the Pirates and Pirates Charities will host Stand Up 2 Cancer Night. Ticket packages for the promotion are $30 with $10 from every package sold going directly to the Stand Up 2 Cancer fund. Participants will be seated in a special area of PNC Park and at a designated time during the game will have the opportunity to stand up in support of a loved one affected by cancer. Ticket packages include: one ticket in the SU2C section in the Pirates Cove, a complimentary SU2C cap, entry into a special raffle and more.   • Allergy Awareness Night: Tonight the Pirates are pleased to host the first Allergy Awareness Night at PNC Park in partnership with Mylan Specialty L.P. The night will feature a “Peanut Controlled Section” in the left field Pirates Deck. The Deck will be specially sanitized for peanuts and peanut vendors will be prohibited from entering the area. Tickets for the special area are $12 and can be purchased at pirates.com/allergyawareness.
  • Free Shirt Friday: Tonight is a Free Shirt Friday! All fans with paid admission will receive a free Pirates T-shirt, presented by Allergy Friendly from Mylan Specialty LP.
  • Friday Block Party: Don’t miss tonight’s Friday Block Party on Federal Street. Fans will enjoy a free concert while they party on the street as food & beer sales will be available. Tonight’s featured musical guest is local band Totally 80’s.
  • Pirates Celebrity Bartenders: Tonight’s celebrity bartender, former Pirates pitcher Dave Giusti, will serve cocktails in the Hall of Fame Club beginning in the 7th inning and staying thru 30 minutes after the game.

Saturday, August 11, 2012—Pirates vs. San Diego Padres (7:05 p.m.)

  • Make-A-Wish Visit: Tonight the Pirates and Make-A-Wish will partner to make a very special girl’s dream come true as she will be a guest of the Pirates as part of her wish was to have exclusive seats for a Pirates fireworks game. She will be guests of the Pirates in a suite at PNC Park and Pirates Charities will present her with a special bag full of team memorabilia.
  • Skyblast – presented by Iron City Beer: After tonight’s game, all fans are encouraged to stay in their seats for the season’s first SkyBlast featuring a performance by legendary rock band Styx in conjunction with fireworks courtesy of Zambelli. NOW for only $25 fans can purchase a pass to watch the concert from the field as pass holders will be accompanied to the infield of PNC Park to experience the postgame concert from the base of the stage. Sunday, August 12, 2012—Pirates vs. San Diego Padres (1:35 p.m.) Kids Day

  • Kids Day: Come down early and join the fun as the #1 Cochran Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be inflatable rides, face painting, information about the #1 Cochran Bucaroos Kids Club and more.
  • Kids Back to School Lunch Bag: Today all kids ages 14 and younger, with paid admission, receive a free kids lunch bag presented by Bayer.
  • Kids Run the Bases: Kids attending today’s game are invited to stick around after the game to run the bases on the field at PNC Park, courtesy of H.K. Anderson Pretzels.

Monday, August 13, 2012—Pirates vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (7:05 p.m.)

  • ROOT Auction: Tonight the Pirates are proud to partner with ROOT SPORTS to host the Pirates Charities on ROOT SPORTS Auction at PNC Park in the Hall of Fame Club. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the telecast begins at 6 p.m. Fans can bid on unique auction items in person or over the phone by calling (412) 325-4888 starting at 5:30 p.m. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase VIP and VIP-PLUS bags for $125 and $500 respectively. Each bag will include an autographed baseball, Pirates baseball tickets, and an assortment of goodies including Pirates merchandise. Tuesday, August 14, 2012—Pirates vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (7:05 p.m.)

  • VIP Night: The Pirates and Pirates Charities will host a VIP Party for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Western PA and West Virginia. The Pirates will host 10 children, ages 3-10, who are currently battling cancer, in a PNC Park suite along with their parent/guardians. VIP (Very Important Pirate) Parties are monthly parties held during the season at PNC Park that provide deserving children with a night at the ballpark in true VIP-style - complete with a private meet and greet with Pirates players & coaches, a Pirates replica jersey and VIP goodie bag for each child. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a pregame ceremony, a seat to watch the game in an exclusive Luxury Suites, great menu items provided by Levy Restaurants, entertainment and much more.

  • GI Jones in the Community: Today from noon to 1 p.m., Garrett Jones will be at the Robinson Market District (100 Settlers Ridge Center Drive) signing autographs and meeting fans.

Thursday, August 16, 2012—Pirates vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (4:05 p.m.)

  • Special Start Time of 4:05 p.m.: Today is the second of three weekday late afternoon starts this season, and second 4:05 p.m. start this homestand. Fans can work almost a full day then spend the afternoon and dinner at PNC Park.
  • Pirates Wives in the Community: Today, members of the Pirates Wives Organization will visit the Family House (5001 Baum Blvd) to cook dinner and visit with families staying at their facilities. Since 1983, Family House has provided an affordable home away from home for patients and their families seeking medical treatment for serious or life-threatening illnesses in Pittsburgh.

Social Media Night
Join us for another party on the Pirates Deck! On Wednesday, August 29 the Pirates will host their third Social Media Night of 2012 at PNC Park. For $20 fans will receive a seat on the Pirates Left Field Deck PLUS $10 in loaded value on the game ticket to be redeemed at any PNC Park concession or merchandise stand. Fields for Kids
Pirates Charities announced the 11 recipients of the “Fields for Kids” matching grant program for the summer of 2012. This marks the second of three grant cycles for the program as the first round of grants were distributed in June and the third and final round of 2012 grants will be issued in September. A total of 25 youth baseball and softball organizations located in Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio have received grants from Pirates Charities in 2012 to help ensure their programs continue to thrive. Dynamic Pricing Section
New for 2012, the Pirates unveiled dynamic pricing system for the Bleacher General Admission section at PNC Park. Tickets for the 1,400 seat section, located in left field, will be placed on sale 10-days prior to each home game. The initial ticket price will then be adjusted- both lower and higher- in real time, based on demand. Join Clint Hurdle and his wife Karla, along with Pirates Charities and ROOT SPORTS, in the 2012 Wins for Kids campaign. The program is simple: make a monetary pledge to Pirates Charities for each Pirates win during the 2012 regular season. Over the course of the season, your donation will help Pirates Charities strengthen our community by supporting organizations and programs aimed at improving the lives of children and adults in the greater Pittsburgh area. All monies raised through our Wins for Kids program will benefit Pirates Charities and the Children's Institute of Pittsburgh's Prader- Willi Syndrome Program. Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) is a rare, complex genetic disorder that affects many parts of the body and the Children's Institute of Pittsburgh is the only hospital-based site in the world offering treatment for this population.
