The Pirates have selected LHP Steven Brault from Triple-A Indianapolis. He is scheduled to make his Major League debut tonight in St. Louis and will wear uniform #43.
The 24-year-old Brault went 2-3 with a 2.31 ERA in nine minor league starts this season and has produced a 10-3 record and a 1.52 ERA since the 2015 All-Star Break. He posted a 1.83 ERA (19.2ip/4er) in four starts with Indianapolis in April before suffering a strained left hamstring while running to first base on May 8.
After making one rehab start with Short-Season West Virginia on June 20, Brault was reinstated from the disabled list on June 25. He made his last start on Thursday and tossed 5.0 scoreless innings in an 11-1 win at Toledo.
RHP Jameson Taillon has been placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to June 30).
To make room for Brault on the 40-man roster, catcher Jacob Stallings has been designated for assignment.
