Morton's pickoff play successful after review

Call overturned as Pirates starter nabs Yankees' Almonte at first

NEW YORK -- Manager Clint Hurdle was successful with a challenge in Sunday's first game of a doubleheader against the Yankees. Hurdle quickly ran out of the dugout after Zoilo Almonte was ruled safe at first base when Charlie Morton tried to pick him off in the fourth inning.

The replay review, which took 42 seconds, showed that Ike Davis was able to tag Almonte before he slid into first. The overturned play ended the inning for the Yankees.
