Pirates Roster Moves

Outfielder Jose Tabata has been selected from Triple-A Indianapolis and outfielder Gregory Polanco has been optioned to Indy.

Tabata began the season with the Pirates and hit .289 (41-for-142) with 14 RBI in 62 games before being outrighted to Triple-A on June 24. In 39 games with Indianapolis, he hit .281 (41-for-146) with 12 RBI. 

He safely in seven of his last eight Triple-A games (13-for-30, .433) and in 12 of his last 16 (22-for-62, .355).

The Pirates have also recalled infielder Clint Barmes from his injury rehab assignment and have reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list. Barmes has been on the D.L. since 7/6 (retro to 6/30) with a left groin strain.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Tabata, infielder Jayson Nix has been designated for assignment.
