Pirates sign 10 more players from 2015 Draft

The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed the following players from the 2015 First-Year Player Draft. The announcement was made by Joe DelliCarri, Pirates Director of Amateur Scouting.

Round 7
Name: Mitchell Tolman
Position: INF
Height/Weight: 5-11/195
Affiliate: University of Oregon
Assignment: West Virginia Black Bears

Started all 62 games as a junior in 2015 in the infield for the University of Oregon while hitting .325 (75-for-231) with 20 doubles, two triples, three home runs, 42 RBI and 43 runs scored...Was named a second-team ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-West Region in a vote by the region's coaches in 2015...Was also selected a first-team All-Pac-12 in 2015.

Name: Logan Sendelbach
Position: RHP
Height/Weight: 6-3/185
Affiliate: Tiffin University
Assignment: Bristol Pirates

Became the first player from Tiffin University to be selected in the Major League Baseball Draft...Went 5-3 with a 2.84 ERA (57.0ip/18er) with five complete games in 11 appearances (10 starts) as a junior this year at Tiffin University.

Assignment: West Virginia Black Bears

Was nominated for a Division II Gold Glove Award as a catcher in 2015 at Cal Poly Pomona...Was named to the NCAA Division II West All-Region second team in 2015 and was also a first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Conference Association honoree...Started in 54 of 56 games as a sophomore this year for the Broncos while hitting .341 (72-for-211) with 28 RBI, 43 runs scored and one home run.

Assignment: West Virginia Black Bears

Started all 61 games as a junior this year at UCLA while hitting .342 (80-for-234) with 12 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 51 RBI and 44 runs scored...Took home Pac-12 Conference player-of-the-week honors twice in 2015.

Started all 59 games as a senior this year at North Carolina State University while batting .329 (76-for-231) with 19 doubles, two triples, a team-high 10 home runs, 41 RBI and 53 runs scored ...Was named an All-ACC third-team selection in 2015 and to the ABCA All-South Region first-team at shortstop.

Went 10-1 with a 2.42 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 16 appearances in 2014 with Columbia State Community College.

Posted a 22-1 record, 1.40 ERA and 243 career strikeouts for Amherst County High School...Was the Seminole District Pitcher-of-the-Year in 2014...Went 10-1 with a 1.02 ERA and 107 strikeouts as a junior.

Was named a first-team Conference USA selection in 2015 after hitting .273 (59-for-216) with 13 doubles, one triple, four home runs, 33 RBI and 44 runs with the University of Texas-San Antonio...Hit .288 (60-for-208) with 12 doubles, four home runs, 24 RBI and 23 runs as a junior... Earned WAC All-Tournament team honors as a sophomore as well as being named
to the 2013 Johnny Bench Award watch list.

Was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings South Central All-Region team after ranking in the top 10 in the Sun Belt Conference in batting average (.354), hits (73), RBI (42), stolen bases (13), total bases (113), slugging percentage (.549) and on-base percentage (.440) in 2015.

Was named an All-Sun Belt Conference first-team selection in 2015 and led the conference in hits (81), walks (52) and doubles (22)...Was named an ABCA/Rawlings South-Central All-Region first-team selection in 2015...Led the nation in on-base percentage (.548) and had the country's longest on-base streak at 74 games, including 55 straight in 2015...Was named a
finalist for the Gregg Olson Award, which is given to college baseball's breakout player-of-the-year...Reached base safely in all 55 of Arkansas State's games in 2015.

The Pirates have now signed 19 players from this year's draft.
